How long before the military gets fed up with the bullshit?

If the GOP manages to hold onto power through whatever means, we're likely going to be seeing military action around the globe for quite some time. How long before commanders start getting fed up with the bullshit and continuous deployments? Everything has its breaking point, and great empires have been ruined through endless campaigns and being stretched too thin.

I don't know if it's possible in this country to have a military coup - although who knows, if a couple senior generals felt it was the only way to save the United States, I suppose anything would be possible. I think what's far more likely is that field commanders will simply refuse orders, and eventually generals will refuse to deploy.

I think it was Hersch who said that if the bush administration decided to after Iraq there would be Generals resigning.

The good of it is it shows everyone the military has no faith in rummy and the administration. That would be a severe blow.

The bad of it is, they'll promote a 'yes' man to get him to do their bidding.

As far as a coup goes...I don't think it will ever happen here. And if even if bush got on TV, declared himself dictator or something, it only works with the support of the military.

What he said was that if using nukes wasn't taken out of the equation when dealing with Iran, the senior brass would resign. And it worked. He also said that Shrub will not defy the military.
