Olbermann death threat powered letter made fun of by Murdoch’s NY Post

What would the conservative media be saying if Limbaugh was sent a letter like this? The NY Post: "POWDER PUFF SPOOKS KEITH"

paula.froelich@nypost.com

Keith Olbermann flipped out when he opened his home mail yesterday. The acerbic host of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" was terrified when he opened a suspicious-looking letter with a California postmark and a batch of white powder poured out. A note inside warned Olbermann, who’s a frequent critic of President Bush’s policies, that it was payback for some of his on-air shtick. The caustic commentator panicked and frantically called 911 at about 12:30 a.m., sources told The Post’s Philip Messing. An NYPD HazMat unit rushed to Olbermann’s pad on Central Park South, but preliminary tests indicated the substance was harmless soap powder. However, that wasn’t enough to satisfy Olbermann, who insisted on a checkup. He asked to be taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where doctors looked him over and sent him home. Whether they gave him a lollipop on the way out isn’t known. Olbermann had no comment.

Here’s a public email if you want to send Paula your thoughts paula.froelich@nypost.com (please show more class than Paula)

they never seem scared of the anthrax attacks; don't even acknowledge them. Very strange. I hope they can obtain fingerprints....rabid right-wingers would *know* that it wouldn't matter if they didn't wear gloves!!

20. Well the NY Post received a real anthrax letter in 2001 which adds to the
bizarreness that the Post would find a hoax, and one needs to call the authorities to determine whether it is or isn't real, fodder for amusement. (Like they wouldn't be doing the exact thing KO reportedly did.)

And the Post also failed to point out that such "hilarity" could result in a 5 year federal prison sentence for the perpetrator. That's how much the Feds are not amused by such hoaxes.

33. Phony leads and misdirection
The Bush administration does it all the time. If none of their own got any it would have looked too obvious. Then again the yahoo who sent the anthrax may have not known the Post was owned by R Murdoch

7. Real funny, Post
Everything's a game, everything's a joke. Disgusting behavior by the mailer, and apparently Paula Froelich is pretty sure that neither she nor the Post will ever be targeted by a terrorist; after all, the killers all seem to pick liberals for their victims. Curious, huh? Alexander Hamilton must be spinning in his grave.

9. You guys, you're way behind. Check the other threads on this topic.
The Post WAS one of the recipients of the infamous anthrax mailings of 2001. One of their employees got it on her skin and one of her middle fingers was affected. She was later depicted in a huge picture in the Post giving that middle finger to the still-uncaptured anthrax killer.

That's what makes this whole story and its treatment by the Post even more disgusting. They could not possibly be worse hypocrites than they are being right now. Not only did Olbermann have every right to take this situation seriously, but they were hypocritical insensitive jerks to laugh at him for it.

They are definitely today's WORST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD!

8. Okay, here's mine:
Subject: "Keith Olbermann was terrified."

Your words. Terrified. So whoever did it was, don't you think, a terrorist? Terrorism is funny to you? Ha. Ha.

The funniest thing, of course, is that ONLY liberals, ONLY Democrats, receive these envelopes of white powder.

If Republicans are striking at the heart of terror, wouldn't terrorists be sending the white powder to THEM? But no.

Makes a person wonder if Republicans are sending these envelopes of white powder. Which would make Republicans terrorists. You know, people who terrify. Who terrorize. Like someone did to Keith Olbermann, who has been hard on, surprise!, Republicans lately.

A large number of Americans are waking up to the reality that the real terrorists among us are the Republicans.

But you keep on finding it funny.

21. They made it up, of course. If they received such a letter at home, Post
staffers clearly wouldn't bother to contact the authorities or seek medical care. They'd just laugh it off, toss the letter in the garbage and wait to see if they were came down with a potentially deadly infectious disease. The rational approach. :sarcasm:

Page Six is a gossip column. The way it operates, they likely got a tip about the incident (hospital staffers or anyone who could be aware of the incident) and then added the "color" to sex up the story for their gossip page.

UPDATE! UPDATE! -- At 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on MSNBC's "Countdown" show tonight, not only will Olbermann be addressing the powder incident; he will also take time to point out how the NY Post (via Page Six) may have interfered with an FBI investigation of terroristic threats with its mocking item.

16. my letter to Paula
One of the more unfortunate species of rightwing whacko is the kind that mails fake anthrax to public figures with whom they disagree politically.

How wonderful for these tragically misunderstood whackos that they have such a friend and ally in you, as illustrated by your recent hit piece on Keith Olbermann.

Although I'm positive that you would never engage in such juvenile, not to mention illegal, behavior, at least you are contributing what you can to the cause by acting as a cheerleader. I'm sure there are many challenges involved in being a domestic terrorist, which those of us who prefer not to perpetrate artificial death threats would have a hard time understanding. So your enthusiastic show of amusement -- and implied approval -- for such acts, and the criminals who perpetrate them, is quite impressive.

If only Mr. Olbermann had displayed half the bravery that it took for you to write your column. Hopefully the next time he is tempted to publicly criticize George Bush, he'll think long and hard. After all, there are plenty of crazy Bush cultists out there who won't hesitate to seek retribution -- and then there are those who applaud them.

If that was anthrax, it was people in the post office who would also have been at risk. Waiting to call 911, would have not only been dangerous for him, but for others.

Subject: Can Email Carry Anthrax?

Paula:

I guess you thought it was a real yuk-em-up situation that a journalist would recieve an possible anthrax infested piece of snail mail. I find it interesting how right wingnuts don't seem to be very afraid of anthrax infestation. They all think it is a big joke. Huh, odd isn't isn't it? Could it possibly be you aren't too worried because you are part of the people that are responsible for the innocents that have already died from it?

I think you are jealous of Olbermann, after all he is a REAL journalist with REAL integrity who is not afraid to tell the truth. So, if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about getting in trouble for killing innocent people. We know you get paid to lie to the American people. After all when the "journalists" like you get paid for unbottoning the truth, stripping your integrity while lauding torturers, tongue-kissing the ass of wingnut rich people, supporting warmongers who are unbottoning their flies while you are getting down on all fours for treasonous war profiteers' erect bank accounts, and taking every inch of it all in so the press to keep people from the truth, you have to live up to your REAL name, huh? It begins with "Wh" and rhymes with "bore"

If I was KO, I would have at least a dozen bodyguards, survalance cams everywhere, and attack dogs with rabies. The republinazis, THEY are the ones flipping out over the one-two punch of Keith and Big Dog! Not only do I hope and pray the FBI finds and throws the book at whoever sent that letter to Olbermann, I hope they do the same to the NYP for this hit piece which clearly could hamper this investigation (and you can bet your bottom dollar that's EXACTLY what the cons want). Completely unacceptable. This America we live in now is almost unrecognizable from the REAL America 6 years ago.

38. OK I Think This Is Better And Sent with Lots o' "Love"
Subject: Can Email Contain Antrax?

Paula:

I guess you thought it was a real yuk-em-up situation that a journalist would recieve a possible anthrax infested piece of snail mail, like this email could never be. I find it interesting how wingnut rag writers don't seem to be very afraid of anthrax infestation. They all think it is a big joke. Huh, odd isn't it? A lot of people think this is VERY odd, don't you? I mean, why wouldn't you be afraid ~ unless you know who is doing it and that you could never be a target ...hmmmm, interesting thought, isn't it?

Really Paula, admit it, you are jealous of Olbermann, after all he is a REAL journalist with REAL integrity who is not afraid to tell the truth. So, if I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about getting in trouble for killing innocent people with anthrax like your friends ~ oops I mean your "contacts" do. We know you get paid to lie to the American people and perpetuate it. Must feel real good to be a team player for rags like the one you work for who are responsible for the murder of millions in wars made over lies and the like, huh?

We all know the truth about people like you, don't we Paula? "Journalists" like you get paid for unbuttoning the truth, stripping your integrity while suggestively licking your words about the masochistic, sick liers and torturers in this administration. I hope you get paid well for tongue-kissing the assets of those wingnut rich people, while supporting greedy warmongers who are unzipping their files and watching you willingly get down on all fours for treasonous war profiteers' erect bank accounts. All this while taking every inch of it all in to the hilt in order to keep people from the truth. I am sure you moan with fake pleasure as they release their skank into your ignorant little mind.

In short, you have to live up to your REAL self by laughing at the anthrax you will certainly never have to worry about, huh? This is because you are so special. We The People however, would rather have people of high journalistic intregrity who don't have to fake or lie about the news, which you could never come close: There is a pet name we like to use for those like you, many of us who are made physically ill by your "humor": It begins with "Wh" and rhymes with a big "bore".
