barbara starr was reporting on the new (no bid, i'm sure) contract the pentagon has awarded to a company to monitor news out of iraq. she pointedly said cnn was to be included in the monitoring. wolfie muttered something about preparing a story on that later. pretty soon ALL the news out of iraq will be fluff.

1. He flinched at that?
But Bush calls all the death and destruction in Iraq a "comma," and he just nods and says nothing. Nice to know what matters to Leslie.

9. He actually seemed to a bit more anti-Repub yesterday....
Usually - he tries to prop up the admin and yesterday he either kept his mouth shut or seemed to be mildly disapproving. That's a radical change for Leslie.

2. Not only is there a contract to monitor the news on Iraq
There is another one just awarded (for up to $20 mil) to actually make up articles and plant them in the news for Iraq. BushCo just covering all bases.

8. "Newsweek" magazine wasn't involved, was it?
Edited on Wed Sep-27-06 05:26 PM by KansDem
It seems to have experience in covering bad news out of Afghanistan with fluff stories...

edited to change "Time" to "Newsweek" in the subject field.

I thought it was all "vetted". Leslie Lippshitz is just pissed that he hasn't received his new script yet.

6. heck yeah
it's censorship. I saw Wolf just about flinch when Starr reported that.
Don't know if he wasn't expecting it, or just surprised she said in a LIVE report.

7. Oh, no!!! It's the "...on that later" syndrome.
It used to be journalists were prepared. Now with The Whoreth Estate we see the "...get back to you later when we get caught with our pants down" syndrome. Always useful when you caught in a lie.

Katie Couric used it when she unsuccessfully attempted to smear Democrats as having accepted money from Abramoff and was smacked down by Howard Dean. "...oh, we'll have to check into that and get back with our viewers later" chirped Katie. To date, she hasn't got back with us.

Now Wolf uses it to fill in a void left by his own ignornace...
