They try to make their dittohead points, but it just doesn't seem to matter what fact Randi reads to them, or plays on tape.

We know they're not calling to be educated, but to shout across their talking point. But the most disgusting one was the one who called while Cindy Sheehan was on and all but told her she was using her dead son just to attack Bush and make points for the Democrats. Pardon my french, but you don't get to be a bigger piece of shit than that caller was.

Nonetheless, perhaps our Kool-aid drinking analogy is not that far off base. These callers are mindless zombies who spew garbage, but have no ears. No proof is sufficient for them. No fact has meaning. Nothing that disproves their premises is valid. Reason and logic are words they've never heard.

I'll be damned if I can figure out how Randi can deal with these creatures. And beyond that, I don't know how they can live with themselves.

There's various approaches here. You can do the Al Franken approach and not have callers on your show - you have lots of pre-invited guests. That way you don't have to cope up with wingnuts calling. You can do it the Mike Malloy way, he doesn't even allow them to finish their sentence and he drops the call. Or you can do it the way Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes deal with it... and let them steam off their points and rebut each and every one of them. I even think Jerry Springer does that but he's more mild mannered than Randi (Thom's more mild mannered at least in the way he comes across to me).

Or you do it the Rush Limbaugh way and you screen your calls heavily. Very heavily. I guess you have to have a secret RNC Party ID Card # to give before you get on that show.
