A huge jump for the Countdown with the Special Comment. Bear in mind that this Countdown was specifically advertised about this Special Comment during NBC Nightly News that evening (which has bounced back after the CBS Couric effect).

THERE IS AN AUDIENCE FOR THIS! WE JUST NEED TO GET THE WORD OUT!!!

LET NBC KNOW THE NBC NIGHTLY NEWS AD HELPED AND WE SHOULD HAVE MORE OF IT!

MSNBC has a winner on its hands.

1. Will do, GLADLY. Keith is doing what national newsies have refused to do
for FIVE LONG YEARS. Put up the facts in a coherent storyline.

3. This is important since it doesn't always happen
For example, on 9-21-06 Scarborough beat Olbermann 194-148 in the demo. That doesn't often happen, but it does on occasion. The fact that GE/NBC gave the audience the often-missing truth AND ADVERTISED IT on the main NBC network is key.

4. For comparison's sake
The 9-18-06 Special Comment Countdown (about "unacceptable to think") got no promotion and got 173 in the demo. Obviously, there's an audience if people know about it.
