BAQUBA, Iraq - Four insurgents from a group linked to Al Qaeda were killed in an assault Wednesday by United States forces north of Baghdad that also left four civilian women dead, the US military said.

The attack happened in the early hours of the morning in the city of Baquba, north of Baghdad, the military said in a statement.

“Coalition forces killed four suspected terrorists and wounded two others during a raid the morning of September 27 targeting a terrorist tied to extremist leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq in ... Diyalah and Salaheddin provinces,” the statement said.

In the course of the raid, US forces came under heavy fire and aircraft were called in to help “neutralize” the threat, it said.
