I just met Howard Dean!
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 07:06 PM by StellaBlue
So I hear from a friend that Howard Dean is going to be speaking at a Democratic event at the famous Scholz Beer Garten in Austin, Texas.

Now I work about two blocks away, and one of my good friends and a fellow leftie works NEXT DOOR, so I call him at 5 to say, "Howard Dean, Scholz's five o'clock." We are hanging out at a side door, me telling my friend bye because he, unlike me, does not want to donate $25 to the DNC just to see Howard Dean, when, lo and behold, he walks right past and stops to say hello!

Then my friend scuttled off to happy hour elsewhere, and I walked around the corner only to find myself RIGHT behind Howard as he is being FILMED by the local news, walking toward the front door at Scholz's. Then he turns around and shakes my hand and asks how am I doing, etc., so I am just like, "Great, how are you? Great to meet you! We are so glad you're here!" which, really, was pretty dignified. I LOVE Howard Dean and didn't know until like 4:30 that he was here! haha

So then after the event (at which he gave a great speech - favorite line? - "Ann Richards had big hair. Your current governor has big hair. But the difference is, Ann had a big brain behind it!") I got my pic taken and told him again that I was pleased to meet him and thanked him.

I kinda rock. I also met Al Gore in Houston this summer (which was truly a starstruck experience for my and my friend). I need to start stalking Lady Bird, and get a pic with her...

hrmmm....

Me 'n The Scream.

3. That's cool
Dean was my man for the nomination. Sure wish we had him in there when 9-11 happened. The world would be a much better place today.

5. Aw, that's funny and sweet what he said about Ann Richards.
Someone at Burnt Orange posted some pics of Dean at her funeral, he is talking to Lloyd Doggett.

And if you were going to the Johnson-Rayburn dinner this Saturday in Houston, you might get to meet Russ Feingold. How cool a trifecta would that be?

23. A kick for the good doctor.
And for a nice post.

I guess someone ought to tell him that Mary Beth Cahill called him the 04 unidentified flying object that shows up in every race.

That's new one.
