Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 06:44 PM by leftchick
she was so beautiful. She looks so vibrant here. What a waste... RIP Emily.

:(

This undated photo provided by the U.S. Army shows Emily Perez, the highest ranking black and Hispanic woman cadet in corps history. Perez, 23, was buried at West Point military academy Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, two weeks after she was killed by a bomb in Iraq. She was a platoon leader at the head of a convoy when a roadside bomb exploded south of Baghdad on Sept. 12 and killed her. (AP Photo/US Army)

1. That caption should read "2nd Lt. Emily Perez"
She was an officer as well as a black latino woman.

3. You are correct - shame on them.
She was beautiful and obviously very ambitious and intelligent. We'll never know what she may have accomplished through her life now. Thank you George W. Bush. x(

2. Incredibly heartbreaking. But to some she's "just a number" or
part of something that "will look just like a comma".

I doubt her family would agree with either of those statements. And neither do I. A picture full of potential. I bet her family was proud of her. RIP, Emily.

4. Such a waste of a life to die for a LIE
We were all (well a lot of us) so deluded after 9/11 that we actually believe the shit this administration sold us. 911 students at West Point all fell for the same bullshit. I am sorry for them to get caught up in this lie.
