FOX/Clinton - Framing the debate
This whole FOX/Clinton thing bugs me - even before this ->

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,215607,00.html

"Former President Bill Clinton, never one to let truth stand in the way of a good line, has decided to reincarnate himself as our tough, anti-terror president...."

....because I see it as just a big "frame the debate" thing. It's a win/win for FOX - if the goal is for people to think that the most important thing is for the US to be "strong on the 'War on Terror'".

If Clinton argues that the Democrats are the toughest - they win. If the Republicans argue that they are the toughest - they win.

No worry that our occupation of Iraq is increasing terrorism.

If the goal is for the country to be in denial about our govt' being corrupt, immoral, guilty of war crimes - they won. Everyone is ignoring everything that is wrong with Bush and the Republicans and it's just the classic argument - "Who is King of the Hill?" (And it is easy for the Republicans to win at being the most obnoxious, the most abusive of power, the most willing to subvert our rights/others rights...)

It's just what they want.
