6. He doesn't deserve that
Al Franken may not appeal to the "extreme Lefties" here but I've been listening to him for a long time and seen him on TV a few times, and I think he'll do just fine. Furthermore, he's done a LOT for "our side" and the snippy comments that quickly show up whenever his name is mentioned on DU are unwarranted and undeserved, IMO.

5. sadly, he's right about that most of the time.....Franken doesn't always
do so well in quick thinking situations.

AND, he's been pretty weak on handlng the Chavez situation

that said, I hope he's got some good, pre-prepped statements with which to pepper his off the cuff ones

12. Blankey pulled that condescending tone on Al. Big mistake.
Told Al, "Let me explain..." Al got pissed big time. Fireworks folks.

Said it before and I'll say it again, Tweety is sick and tired of kicking his ass kicked by Keith every night and he is trying (trying to generate some scuttlebutt about his lame ass show.

I fully expect Tweety # 1 to be back in the seat tomorrow night back on board with the lying BushCos. Until then, pretty good TV.

10. Puff Daddy Blankly made an ass of himself
and Al mopped the floor with him.

What a condescending prick! I wanted to reach into the tv and slap the shit out of him. Sitting there smirking and laughing when Al handed him his ass. :grr:

Go Al! You're doing a hell of a job!

and he's using one of Tony's editorials. Tony just sits up there grinning like the cat that ate the canary.

16. If Fat Tony calls Franken Allen one more time, I'm gonna put
my foot through the TV screen..

What a typical arrogant arsehole Brit scum sucking neocon he is..

I thought he was bad on the McLaughlin Group, but this display of his arrogance even tops those.

19. I'd say this was a new, improved Franken. never, ever seen him
more adept, more prepared, more forceful

his having the Blankley editorial at his fingertips and adapting it to a different use than he originally intended was a both a stroke of luck, and excellent evidence of his quick thinking, which I'd questioned earlier (in this thread, I think)

without a doubt, his best, most formidable appearance on any of this sort of show

look for it to be a LONG time before he makes another appearance

hope I'm wrong

After reading his book, (Liars) I said, this is a bunch of shit, and became active. I will always like Al. If you don't like the way he speaks, then don't listen to him. But, Al gets it.

21. That book had a huge impact on me...
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 05:49 PM by cynatnite
before reading it I thought something was wrong with the US. I knew I didn't like bush, but watching corporate media outlets like CNN and MSNBC I felt like I was in the minority on a lot of issues.

When I read the book it was like the sun appeared. I wasn't crazy and I wasn't the only one who felt like I did. It was effing great! After that I soon found DU!

25. Ya anyone who rags on Al but has never read "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat
Idiot" or "Lies & the Lying Liars who Tell Them" or especially "The Truth (with jokes)" needs to read them and get a clue. Unfortunately Al's delivery is just so so to mediocre on radio but those books are gold, full of good info, well sourced, and funny as all hell.

23. Al is one of our major weapons.
He converted Arianna Huffington. I think people forget all he's done for us, and more important, he is smart! At one point, before Air America, his was the only progressive voice on mass media.

I'm gonna watch the replay!:bounce:

30. Maybe the Clinton bug?
Bill taking off the gloves seems to be invigorating and inspiring many fed up dems, and as much as faux and the rest of the msm are trying to turn it into a Dean Scream, it seems to be having the opposite effect. :)
