"What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years."

Now this is Ms. Condi's quote disputing what Big Dog said on Damian, Wallace II's show.

THIS is her comeback???

Think about it, what's been the Neokremlin talking point for the last couple of years (kicked up a notch for the elections, btw)? Namely, that the Clinton team not only did nothing to curb terrorism but LET OBL GET AWAY! I mean, that's what we've been hearing, right?

OK.

So, you could say that Clinton's level of anti-terror aggression, according to the consoviets, would have to be zero.

But wait, Dr. Rice, your REBUTTAL is that YOUR team was "at least as aggressive" as your predecessor (whom YOUR side has excoriated and continues to excoriate for doing nada).

Does this mean that Rice is admitting that the Bush Team ALSO has POSSIBLY done nothing on the anti-terror front?

Shouldn't a rebuttal to Clinton be more along the lines (esp. if you're confident that you've been successful, as the Bushies claim; for they've never admitted failure of any kind) of "What we did in the eight months FAR SURPASSED ANYTHING the Clinton administration did in the preceding years"?

I'm just saying...

2. It's cause they don't have a leg to stand on -
and they know it. There's PROOF Clinton was aggressive, and PROOF the new Bush Administration was given adequate briefings and a plan for Al Qaeda, Taliban.

Condi is playing a game; she knows full well what she's saying, and she knows Clinton is right.

5. To me, she closed the door on any future questions
or diatribes of 'what could have been done' prior to 9/11.

She also said, ""I think this is not a very fruitful discussion," she said. "We've been through it. The 9/11 commission has turned over every rock and we know exactly what they said."

Therefore, Fox News and all the others will have to call Condi wrong, or else, it's a dead issue. This administration is quoting the 9/11 commission. Any future questions about any past administrations could be answered by 'Quoting Condi Rice, this is not a fruitful discussion. The 9/11 commission has turned over every rock'.

8. What's interesting is she referred to the 9/11 Report...
Funny if they really beleieved in what the 9/11 commission discovered why haven't they implemented all of the recommendations?

I hope someone catches this and pushes the issue...

6. I caught that. The other point is that it's a very defensive answer.
She's on the defense now, which means she doesn't have any facts or evidence to respond with, and she knows that the evidence would show that Clinton did a lot. So she can't just say "Clinton did nothing" as BushCo has said all along. The best she can do is defend her own team. "We did a lot, too!"

9. We Made The MOST Important Change EVER To Counter-Terrorism
We replaced those baggy old off-the-rack suits of Sandy Berger with my chic designer ensembles. And I'm much cuter than Sandy Berger, even with buck teeth.
