Keith Olberman! What's Got Into You, Baby?
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 01:18 AM by orleans
it's amazing, it's wonderful--we knew you had it in you. your commentaries are superb--each time i think you won't be able to top the last one, and each time you do.

i'm so happy you have found your voice--we cheer you on as you speak. you are the voice for the disenfranchised which has become the majority of the people in this country.

"The Bush Administration did not try to get Osama bin Laden before 9/11.

"The Bush Administration ignored all the evidence gathered by its predecessors.

"The Bush Administration did not understand the Daily Briefing entitled "Bin Laden Determined To Strike in U.S."

"The Bush Administration did not try.

"Moreover, for the last five years one month and two weeks, the current administration, and in particular the President, has been given the greatest “pass” for incompetence and malfeasance in American history! "

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15004160/

(another snip:)

" To hear him bleat and whine and bully at nearly every opportunity, one would think someone else had been president on September 11th, 2001 -- or the nearly eight months that preceded it.

"That hardly reflects the honesty nor manliness we expect of the executive.

"But if his own fitness to serve is of no true concern to him, perhaps we should simply sigh and keep our fingers crossed, until a grown-up takes the job three Januarys from now. "

(and another:)

"And of course, were it true Clinton had been “distracted” by the Lewinsky witch-hunt, who on earth conducted the Lewinsky witch-hunt?

"Who turned the political discourse of this nation on its head for two years?"

(and another:)

"The distractions of 1998 and 1999, Mr. Bush, were carefully manufactured, and lovingly executed, not by Bill Clinton, but by the same people who got you elected President.

"Thus, instead of some commendable acknowledgment that you were even in office on 9/11 and the lost months before it, we have your sleazy and sloppy rewriting of history, designed by somebody who evidently read the Orwell playbook too quickly.

"Thus, instead of some explanation for the inertia of your first eight months in office, we are told that you have kept us "safe" ever since—a statement that might range anywhere from zero, to 100 percent, true.

"We have nothing but your word, and your word has long since ceased to mean anything."

(and another:)

"You did not try.

"You ignored the evidence gathered by your predecessor.

"You ignored the evidence gathered by your own people.

"Then, you blamed your predecessor.

"That would be a textbook definition, Mr. Bush, of cowardice."

(and another:)

"The "free pass" has been withdrawn, Mr. Bush."

THANK YOU KEITH OLBERMAN--YOU ARE A REAL AMERICAN!

3. The commentary was brilliant from one end to the other.
But from a LOL standpoint, I LOVED this: "To hear him bleat and whine and bully at nearly every opportunity, one would think someone else had been president on September 11th, 2001 -- or the nearly eight months that preceded it.

I howled when I heard Keith say that line.
The White House must have gone through boxes and boxes of Depends tonight.

4. Just BEYOND breathtaking! I was sitting there, pumping my fists
in the air.

My husband kept interrupting - "he read my letter! He MUST HAVE read my letter!" He wrote Keith awhile ago, talking about George Orwell and how we're living "1984." Some of his points turned up here this evening. That's my boy!

Keith is B.R.I.L.L.I.A.N.T.

Words fail me.

Adjectives fail me.

At least Keith doesn't.

8. Your fists were right up there with mine. LOL.
I wrote to Keith and actually told him I couldn't find the words to tell him what it meant to hear him tonight. I kept tearing up while trying to write. Ain't it wonderful to hear the TRUTH? :) :) :)

10. Actually, a LOT of shit. LOL!
I'll bet they had to haul out the defibrillator for Uncle Dicky.
(Oh wait. No heart. Probably needed garlic cloves.)

I can see * having a temper tantrum.
Screaming at the top of his lungs and pounding his fists on the floor, just like the two year old that he is. ;)

Heck with the Xmas card. Let's send Keith a Xmas tree! (Or should that be 'holiday' tree?) ;)
And make homemade ornaments with all of Keith's great quotes on them. :)

9. Well finally someone is doing it.
Too bad it couldn't have been our party leaders. I thought that was their job, to protect our country from all enemies internal and external. As Keith pointed, the internal ones have been getting a free pass so far.

11. OMG -- This is the one night I didn't get to watch Keith, so thx for this!
Keith is getting better & better!

These are the points that I've thought about but couldn't express as well as Keith:

-- "And of course, were it true Clinton had been “distracted” by the Lewinsky witch-hunt, who on earth conducted the Lewinsky witch-hunt?"

"The distractions of 1998 and 1999, Mr. Bush, were carefully manufactured, and lovingly executed, not by Bill Clinton, but by the same people who got you elected President."

:loveya: Keith Olbermann!

12. This is the dynamite we need to blast the democratic leaders
out of their complacency.
And, ya'know, as impressive and straight shooting as Olbermann is, as thoroughly as he seems to cover the subject, there are volumes not even touched upon. There is no end of material condemning these arrogant fools for what they are.

Some currently unmentionables: In late 2002 the turds in charge had Zarkawi in their sights but chose not to pull the trigger because they hoped to use hum to bolster their claims of Saddam Husein-al Quida cooperation, thus condemning uncounted victims to torture and harrowing death, all to keep the GOP star ascendant.

And, of course, they had bin Laden at Tora Bora but refused to allow the special forces or provide the resources to spring the trap.

Missed opportunity after squandered opportunity, fostering the deaths of three thousand American military, a hundred fifty thousand Iraqis, the crippling of twenty thousand more Americans, on and nauseatingly on.

I do think the "death of a thousand cuts" has begun for this sick bunch of cheating piss drinkers, but we must not relax now. The battle is finally joined and we have to double the pressure, every day.

A new day is dawning.

16. I'll take this for openers.
Is there a mass distribution list anywhere around her where one can E-mail all of Congress in one fell swoop?

18. I don't think you can do a mass distribution to them but you
can go to the capitol websites and get a list of all with their emails and other particulars and put their addys in your address book. That way you can copy anything you want to any or all of them. Your own private distribution list.

13. Keith is the only example of that liberal media we've heard so much about.
And because the conservative media -- like all conservatives -- cannot stand to hear a dissenting voice, I'm afraid Old Keith will soon be sent the way of Phil Donahue.

Oh, but just image how different our country would be if ALL the talking heads had the brains and balls that Olberman does! Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, et al. would never get their mugs on television.

14. I've said it before... and I repeat it now
seriously, Keith, if you read DU or someone on your staff reads it... watch your back.
I think the BFEE and their backers, folks like Scaife and company, are capable and willing
to do things they accuse the Clintons of, namely shutting up their opponents. I wouldn't
open any letters, and I'd be careful of flying on private planes... very careful... as in,
I wouldn't do it. I'd wouldn't fly period. And don't let anyone with an umbrella get to
close to you walking down the streets. And... hell, I wouldn't even answer the door.

They will try to discredit you first, and if that fails, they will smear you (swiftboating),
and, if you are dangerous enough to them (and I think you are getting to be very dangerous),
they will try to silence you.

17. And for some of the real dumbasses, like Inhofe,
all you'd have to do is repaint the capitol building a different color and they'd get so hopelessly lost we might never hear from them again.
