DFA partners with Planned Parenthood to derail SD abortion ban.
From Jim Dean at DFA.

Will you please meet up, eat up and turn the heat up?

Democracy for America is partnering with Planned Parenthood to derail the South Dakota ban on a woman's right to chose. Helping out is easy. All you and your friends need to do is attend a potluck this weekend:

The South Dakota abortion ban calls for a near-complete ban on abortions with no exceptions in the cases of rape, incest, or the health of the woman. The law is a sham. It does nothing to reduce unintended pregnancies or protect women's health. Instead, it strips Americans living in South Dakota of their constitutional rights and puts families at grave risk.

The law is designed to set off a nationwide effort to challenge Roe v. Wade and advance an ideological agenda that includes limiting access to emergency contraception and pushing for abstinence-only sex education in public schools.

Choice activists in South Dakota were able to put off the law taking effect this past summer. But on November 7 the future of the abortion ban will be in the hands of the voters. That's why I hope you'll stand up and plan to attend a potluck this weekend with your friends:

All this week, we'll be talking about the power of your social network during this election. The people you know -- your family, friends and neighbors -- are the keys to our success in South Dakota and in every state across the country.

When you activate your social network on behalf of a candidate or cause -- by talking to them about the issues that matter most to you -- you're cutting through all of the campaign clutter. Your voice is more powerful to your family than any 30 second commercial will ever be.

So, please, use your voice. Contact your college buddies, your colleagues from work, the book club and your neighbors -- and ask them to have some fun and attend a potluck with you this weekend.

Sincerely,

Jim Dean
Chair

P.S. The topic of this week's Night School is "Winning with Social Networks." The woman who led my brother's presidential campaign in New Hampshire, Karen Hicks, will be our guest instructor. If you want to learn a better way to do politics I hope you'll join in:
