8. Here's the email that I sent to my Senators.
Dear Senator:

There can be no compromise that sanctions and pardons torture by any arm, division or agent of the United States of America.

Just as our country is no longer safer or better off by almost every policy of this administration, our very Constitution and former beacon of light to the world might as will be extinguished.

If the Democratic minority does not defeat this “compromise” in every detail including the de facto pardon of all abuses of our current war crimes laws by any American National including the POTUS, then your service to our country will be rightly recorded by history along side that of the infamous Vichy government of France.

If you do not defeat this legislation by vote or by filibuster, then I can never support you again. This may seem like hyperbole to you, but I am just a citizen that lacks the uber rights of a Corporation granted by every Congressional term of this Administration that equally diminished my personal rights and civil liberties granted our Constitution and Bill of Rights. That’s my principled argument.

The reality is that I will no longer be able register as a Democrat or to any opposition party out of fear that I could be disappeared or rendered and tortured for my beliefs. I’m just an FDR, pro-labor, pro-choice, sincere believer in the separation of Church and State, pay my fair share of taxes, pro-education, pro-universal health-care, pro-national verified voting standards, pro-instant voter run-off, anti-Social Security privatization, anti-war American. (Oh, I’m gay. And I don’t trust you to stand up for me or any of these policies, but I can dream that you will never be POTUS.)

Please protect the rights of habeas corpus and do not let this evil administration squirm away from their rightful prosecution for ALL the damage they have done to our nation. Save us and save yourself.

9. Other: Not if I was one of thousands locked up for flipping him off.
At some point, many thousands if not millions MUST engage in civil disobedience and risk arrest. It's gotten far past the point where that can be avoided and anyone who doesn't think so is in deep, deep denial. Protests have long been relegated to "free speech zones" while support is permitted at 'ringside' - such differing treatment of speech based solely on its political content is tyranny! I find it shocking that's not clear to virtually EVERY citizen.

10. Other: You'd never know.
When Bush can declare someone a terrorist, have them hauled away without warrant, locked away without charges, deny them access to any legal council or other contact, and never declare or admit they have any such person in their custody? Who'll ever know if that would upset me?

11. I didn't vote.
I can't tell you what I'd ACTIVELY seek should such an occurance occurred, but suffice it to say to be "upset" would be at the low end of my emotions, and I would not rest until I sought justice.

You can take that anyway you like...
