A new state memorial honoring victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack has drawn criticism from a number of sources, including Republican gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil.

Munsil claims some of the monument's inscriptions are anti-American.

Munsil and some other conservative Republicans -- including political blogger Greg Patterson -- are upset with some inscriptions on the 9-11 memorial including one that reads: "You don't win battles of terrorism with more battles."

Munsil and other Republicans fault the Napolitano for the memorial controversy.

Napolitano campaign spokeswoman Jeanine L'Ecuyer said the memorial was created with great input from 9/11 survivors and family members of those killed in the attacks.

Joined by parents of several military personnel killed in Iraq, Republican gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil on Monday called for replacement of the recently dedicated Arizona 9-11 Memorial because of inscriptions that they said insult America either by words or omission.
