Baghdad Morgue Revises August Death Toll Upward 300 Percent
Last week, Pentagon spokesmen touted the success of Operation Forward Together, a push to improve security in Baghdad. They cited a significant decrease in the number of bodies the city morgue received as evidence the operation was working. The media picked up on it:

Last month, the Baghdad morgue received more than 1,800 bodies, a record high. This month, the morgue is on track to receive less than a quarter of that. … U.S. Army Maj. Gen. James D. Thurman, commander of military forces in Baghdad, attributed the capital’s declining violence to a sweep involving 8,000 U.S. soldiers and 3,000 Iraqi troops aimed at stopping sectarian violence.

It looks like they spoke too soon. According to the ABC News blog, the Baghdad morgue today revised its figures upward a whopping 300 percent:

Those kids that die over there are NOT necessarily counted. That is a fact.

I know some kids that died there that were not "counted". You know??

This war was probably illegal - but anyway, it has to rank up there with the dumbest wars ever fought by any nation EVER.

8. You have demonstrable proof that people are not being counted?

US troops being killed in combat? Their parents and/or loved ones are not speaking out about this? If you could supply a name, address, unit and date or as much information as you can it would be greatly appreciated. I know people who are prepared to run with any such allegations and if they are found to be true it will become a Federal Issue out of it, I promise you here & now.

I was listening to Sheehan this AM on C_SPAN. - I was on my way to work but she came on and I listened to her.

I know whithin a "camels breath" I could be in that position - so to speak.

What a reasonable person - decent person she is.

Anyway, I am sure glad I am not her - glad I am not in that position now.

But I know - what a big hiccup is coming - has to come - and I am sorry I live to see it.
