How I handle my anger and fear..just work
Let's be honest, I'm completely freaked about global warming. We need a world wide focus on this or else our civilization is doomed. I'm not being reactionary but talking about the science I see. It's not an imaginary foe but a world wide threat like none we've seen. So, what are you doing?

The US leads the way, both in emissions and in regulation. We all must act. I look at the debates about war and peace and I'll be honest, we have a much bigger threat. We have to save the planet. So, how do we do that? We elect Democrats. Simple as that and yet so difficult. I can rant as close to the best of you about how Democrats failed, but in this election the petroleum party is the Republicans. They want to maintain the status qua and that is a society who uses too much energy and is doomed to environmental collapse. Fight back, make the phone calls, walk the precincts.

Before you dismiss this as crazy please prove to me that we have time to fight back. I suspect this will be dismissed but I really believe that we all must take this seriously. It should be everyone's number one focus

1. Bill Clinton on MTP
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 01:22 PM by bluemarkers
was very pointed about this topic. When asked which (terrorism or warming) is more important, he responded that they both are. One is an immediate threat. The other long term. Both are threats to civilization. One we can contain, the other we may not be able to. So the governments of the world need to work together.

I;m going on memory here, but he pointed out that Global Warming will have effects on a scale unheard of - water and food shortages, refugees. Scared the heck out of me.

I am very afraid of this, and can not allow myself to dwell on it. I respond to people who make fun of me, to wait 2 more decades. Then if I am in error, mock me at will. If I am correct, how will you tell your grandkids you doomed them? I try one at a time.

I can't prove we can still save the Earth. But I think we can. It's worth a try.

2. It's probably 5 to ten years
I know almost noone in the US understands this, but we almost don't have any time to solve this impending crisis. My major regret is that I knew but I hoped I could allow others to solve this. What I know now is that we should have made it a crusade. (Yes, I know what that word means.)

3. What a wasted opportunity
when you consider all the trillions of dollars spent on denfense over the past decades that could have spend on developing greener technologies and the like.
