I think the explosion happened because Clinton fully expected Fox to put him up to it. You don't get mad at the dog for biting you, you get mad at the dog's owner.

Speaking from watching (as well as having) many so-called "explosions" here myself, sometimes when you force yourself to assume goodwill in spite of all evidence to the contrary, the actual proof of ill will sometimes elicits, even deserves, a response commensurate with one's disappointment. I like to think of it as aversion therapy.

(I know at least one of the admins disagrees here, but that is my unapologetic stance.)

2. I would say Amy Goodman, no doubt about it...

Clinton knew when he went on Fox that he would have to put the smack down on the interviewer. However, I don't think he expected Amy Goodman to be so tough on him, and getting hit from the left instead of the right probably irked him a bit more.

It's probably my fault though; I couldn't help, as I was watching Clinton and Junior going toe-to-toe, but be reminded of the other famous incident where Clinton lost his temper with an interviewer: his WBAI call-in with Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman on Election Day, 2000. Now this is before I found DU; I don't know the consensus on the board was at the time.

Basically, I'm against divisiveness.

This was the first time the X-prez has had the opportunity to speak
candidly about a hot button issue in a very long time. I think people
are misinterpreting his tone...He's an attorney! He wasn't angry, unless
you think raising your voice to preclude someone from high-jacking your
response denotes anger.It doesn't. He was assertive calling a spade, a spade,
and wresting control to be heard loud and clear. Thats all..

It's that fire in the gut that's gotten him to where he is; it's passion, AND I DON'T BLAME HIM! 9/11 was a TOTAL Bush fiasco (not to mention the utter destruction of the economy, et al); the guy gets REWARDED with a second term (ballot box shenanigans notwithstanding), and the previous Prez gets all the blame (let's face it, we ALL KNEW the neocons would pull this trick, we all knew it).

Also, I think he's had ample opportunity to voice his disgust with the whole thing; Clinton's been on numerous interviews where he could've just talked about how the Repubs jacked America, but he took the high road and concentrated on other issues. Didn't he, in fact, go toe-to-toe with the late Peter Jennings (ah, that's another name I should've included in the poll), when (iirc) he was doing the book promo tour?

Yes, my observation as well. However, if he's willing, there is still room for improvement. He possesses the raw materials.He needs to reformulate his style (somewhat) to create an entirely unique presence. Suppress and redirect the passion inward, (you can't lose what is part of you), let them see smoldering smoke, never the fire. Command respect without asking, utter words they hang on..let them count his breaths. Stupefy them with his gifts, spellbinding oratory skills; intellect, infused with fire.

I just read the interview in question... didn't seem so bad to me, although Big Dog did seem annoyed that a simple GOTV call-in turned into a defense of his record against the far left. Honestly? He should have expected it, considering that it WAS Democracy Now! we're talking about. But hey, Gore was being attacked from both sides, so there ya go...

Hell, at least Amy based her questions on what she believed to be the truth.
