Mel Gibson: Iraq war is a form of human sacrifice
Edited on Mon Sep-25-06 09:59 AM by malaise
and proof that American civilization is dying. MSM is 'pissed' you should hear those giddy fools on MSNBC.

Hey Mel you may be late but you're right. Expect them to attack messenger not the message.
<snip>
In describing its portrait of a civilization in decline, Gibson said, "The precursors to a civilization that's going under are the same, time and time again," drawing parallels between the Mayan civilization on the brink of collapse and America's present situation. "What's human sacrifice," he asked, "if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?"

4. Just wait
there'll be plenty of DUers swooning over this remark. Just as there were plenty of DUers admiringly quoting Buchanan not so long ago, or any other right wing creep who happens to make a comment that they agree with.

Note to self: must work harder at pigeonholing

7. sTry again
Did I say a creep can never be right? Why, what a surprise, I didn't. You're simply making that up. I'll try and be very clear and make this so simple that even a five year old could understand it. Simply because a bigoted creep says something that I agree with, does not make that person someone admirable, and it doesn't mean they're an ally.

10. Wrong.
I'll tell you straight out that wasn't what I was hinting at. In fact, it never even crossed my mind. Stopped watches, etc. Don't fucking tell me what I'm hinting at, or put words in my mouth. It's reprehensible.

9. Not me ... he's going to get a pass by using
"Gee, is he still drunk?"

Why doesn't the MSM get on him for his "conservative" daddy hiding him out in Australia so that he would miss out on the Vietnam War (and then portraying a Viet vet in the "Lethal Weapon" series of movies)?

11. swooning? I doubt it very much.
but I find his choice of words interesting - Iraq and human sacrifice. I don't think I've heard it quite like that before - it's very fitting.

12. It is fitting, isn't it?
I mean, they know damn well what's going to happen to these kids. And for no reason that any rational person can figure out. It is rather like they're trying to appease some violence-deity.

2. I think he is right
In this case, I am glad he cannot keep his mouth shut.

I think he is one of those people who gets placed in a prominent position in life, by fate and chance together, and now all of his views are displayed for the world to see.

3. I expect they'll keep silent about him -
Like they do when Buchannan says this war was a stupid idea. Alternatively Buchannan and Gibson might be a nucleus for an isolationist Conservatism.
