HUFFINGTON: Fox shows Clinton what right thinks of "bipartisanship"
I think Clinton is a tremendous asset to the Democrats, but the cozying up to the right he did both in the White House and that he and Hillary have done since then haven't exactly paid dividends with right wing voters, or gotten any cooperation from the right.

The one time I can think of when Clinton handled these guys correctly was when Newt threatened to shutdown the government over a budget deal and Clinton let him--and won the battle of public perception.

It's hard to win if you don't stand your ground and it's hard to convince people you'll fight for them, when they see you kowtow to the people who are screwing them.

Arianna on Clinton vs Fox

RS-Huffington-Clinton.jpg Arianna, who has been very critical of the Clintons in the past makes a great point: The way the Republican WH and Congress is being run it’s very evident that they do not want to work with Democrats and she believes this was a wake-up call for Bill Clinton.

He’s a terrific speaker and thinker with tremendous clout, but the time for diplomacy is over. This administration is incorporating torture into the fabric of our country and I think Chris Wallace’s partisan attempt to knock Bill has reminded him of just that.

(via CNN’s Reliable Sources)

HUFFINGTON: What this may lead to which could be good news is that Bill Clinton may wake up to the fact that there is a real battle going on to define who is going keep America safer. And for him to try to have it both ways, to have Laura Bush do the keynote during his conference, as though we’re all in this together; to have Rupert Murdoch, Chris Wallace’s ultimate boss, do the fund-raiser for his wife, all that stuff is simply not making it as clear and as distinct as it to needs to be for the American people that there are two very different views–and there should be leading up to the ‘06 election–about who is going to keep America safer.

And Bill Clinton needs to decide if he’s just a former president or a former Democratic president, helping his party define what is at stake in the upcoming election. So this may be a good wake-up call for him. What this may lead to which could be good news is that Bill Clinton may wake up call for him.

Later she said:

HUFFINGTON: I mean, I actually like that kind of feisty Bill Clinton more than I like the one who congratulates the President on his handling of Katrina or lets Republicans get away on what is happening in Iraq. I prefer the feisty…

So do I.

HuffPo:

The people who tried to hound him out of office haven’t changed much, though they do now control both houses of Congress and the White House. Back then, he seemed to think fighting them was worthwhile. Now that he’s got his back up again, maybe he’ll rejoin the battle. Nov. 7 is only six and a half weeks away. And nothing less than oversight of the fanatics of the White House is at stake.

1. dont laugh but i think its some kind of mind control thing or something
the whole thing is surreal--how could you have an ex dem president basically coming out in support of the most corrupt administration in US nhistory. How else can you explain--so i think it's some kind of nazi mind control drug they injected into the clintons--that or they are just complete scumbags.

2. My feeling is that Bill and Hillary are trying not to make waves
to mess up Hillary's bid for the White House. Problem is, they'll lose their solid support by cozying up to the Repugs. Bill is in a bad position, and I'm sure it frustrates him. I just wish he'd let it fly and not prostitute himself for Hillary's sake...her bid probably isn't going to fly, anyway.

3. Recommended. And for emphasis I'll quote:
"It's hard to win if you don't stand your ground and it's hard to convince people you'll fight for them, when they see you kowtow to the people who are screwing them."

Are you listening, DLCistas (and, hell, Democrats in general)?

4. ...and don't just ask the GOP to turn the ovens down to 300 degrees...
"You are cooking our people way too hot. At 300 degrees, their deaths will be more like a bad visit to the sauna, and they will have more time to make their final peace with God..."
