The RWer struck again - This time headlined by ' Maxine '
I do not have a scanner!! But the cartoon character "Maxine" with her dog is shown above the copy. Is this for real??? Could find nothing on Snopes!! If so, Maxine just made my shit list.

Subject: Yep, I'm Passing It On..........
I am sorry but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Spanish - enough is enough. No where did they sing it in Italian, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German or any other language because of immigration.

It was written by Francis Scott Key and should be sung word for word the way it was written. The news broadcasts even gave the translation -- not even close.

Sorry if this offends anyone but this is MY COUNTRY - IF IT IS YOUR COUNTRY S PEAK UP I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else. Get a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past -- and GOD BLESS

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Coun try of Choice???????

Think about it!It is Time for America to Speak up

1. Screw Francis Scott Key - I think we should sing the ORIGINAL words.
(He "borrowed" the music from an English drinking song, y'know...)

6. To Anacreon in Heaven (lyrics)
To Anacreon in Heaven

To Anacreon in Heaven
(Ralph Tomlinson, John Stafford Smith)

To Anacreon in Heav'n, where he sat in full glee
A few sons of Harmony send a petition,
That he their inspirer and patron would be,
When this answer arrived from the jolly old Grecian:
Voice, fiddle and flute,
No longer be mute.
I'll lend you my name, and inspire you to boot...
And, besides, I'll intruct you, like me, to entwine
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine.

The news to Olympus immediately flew,
Where Old Thunder decided to give himself airs.
"If we suffer these mortals their schemes to pursue,
There's Devil a goddess will stay above stairs."
Hark! Already they cry
In transports of joy,
"A fig for Parnassus, to Rowley's we'll fly!
And there, my good fellows, we'll learn to entwine
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine."

The yellow-hair'd god, and his nine fusty maids,
To the hill of old Lud will incontinent flee.
Idalia will boast but of tenantless shades
And the biforked hill a mere desert will be.
My thunder, no fear on't
Will soon do its errand,
And damme!, I'll swinge the ringleaders I warrant,
I'll trim the young dogs, for thus daring to twine,
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' cine.

Apollo rose up; and said prithee ne'er quarrel
Good king of the gods with thy vot'ries below!
Your thunder is useless---then, shewing his laurel
Cry'd "Sic evitable fulmen, you know.
Then over each head
My laurels I'll spread,
So my sons from your crackers no mischief shall dread,
Whilst snug in their club-room, they jovially twine
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine."

Next Momus got up, with his risible phiz
And swore with Apollo he'd cheerfully join.
The full tide of harmony still shall be his
But the song, and the catch and the laugh shall be mine.
Then, Jove be not jealous
Of these honest fellows,
Cry'd ove, "We relent, since the truth you now tell us
And swear, by old Styx, that they long shall entwine
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine.

Ye sons of Anacreon, then join hand in hand
Preserve unanimity, friends and love.
'Tis your's to support what's so happily plann'd
You've the sanction of gods, and the fiat of love.
While thus we agree
Our toast, let it be
May our club flourish happy, united and free!
And long may the sons of Anacreon entwine
The myrtle of Venus with Bacchus' vine.

15. The song was actually written for a professional singer
thus it's difficulty.

3. when my grandparents came to America they came through
Ellis Island. They were granted their freedom to make a life in America, nowadays all one has to do is cross the border and your home free. Not good. There is no zero nada nothing to account for the millions of illegal
immigrants that roam our country taking our jobs and driving down wages as well as driving up costs for caring for them.

Get on line at the embassy in their countries and come to America legally...

with about 200 of her cartoons (just yesterday), and she's pretty cantankerous, so it might be true.

Edit: these are certainly things that Hallmark wouldn't be saying heheh

8. Maxine, after all, is a Hallmark creation
Stands to reason she would make some right wing comments since they control the character and the presses that print her.

I read the gist of the e-mail & disregarded it; it's not even worth looking up on snopes.

the text was the same as the one sent to you, but there was no picture or anything to indicate a picture. Looks like someone, somewhere along the line added the picture.
