Howard Dean: Clinton did what democrats need to do
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 04:36 PM by cynatnite
DNC chairman Howard Dean is applauding President Bill Clinton for standing up to "Fox News' right-wing bullying and propaganda machine," in a "heated" interview which aired on Sunday morning.

In a statement sent to RAW STORY, Dean declares that "President Clinton did exactly what Democrats need to do in this election. Democrats need to stand up to the right-wing propaganda machine and tell the truth."

"Washington Republicans' attempts to twist history and recast the truth do not help us win the war on terror or bring us closer to capturing Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the September 11th attacks," Dean continued.

"President Clinton stood up to the misleading tactics of the right-wing propaganda machine," said Dean.

"As the National Intelligence Estimate that was reported on today showed, the Iraq War and the Bush Administration's failed policies have hurt our ability to win the war on terror," the Dean statement continued. "As President Clinton said, Democrats stand for policies that are both tough and smart and we remain committed to winning the war on terror."

Republican movement to rewrite history, which is part and parcel of their attempt to manipulate reporting of current events, was well called to task. One benefit an ex-President has that Mr. Wallace didn't count on... Ha!.

4. What President Clinton did today is exactly what the rest of the
Democratic Party should be doing. Give it to them with both barrels. I'm so sick of hearing so little from our party. Yes, I know that there are plenty speaking out but we need constant strong rebuttals to the one-sided attacks on us. Bravo Mr. Clinton, and Thank You.

9. Absolutely!
I'm really hoping this backfires on the repukes in a major way. Faux keeps on about it, replays it and the viewers break from the brainwashing.

Yeah, it's probably a pipe dream. :)

10. It was rewarding to see someone on Fox be put in their place
Bill Clinton did just that today to Chris Wallace. There have been times when Chris asks such off the wall questions to the democrats, that I'd like to wag my finger in his face. He takes it easy on the
republicans, just as Bill Clinton Brought out in this interview.

11. And don't stick the sharp ends of pencils in your eyes.
Well, actually, you shouldn't stick either end of a pencil in your eye.

And you shouldn't even try to stick it in sideways, though that would be difficult.

Well, if the pencil had been sharpened down to where it was really tiny, it might be easy to do sideways, but I think we're getting off point.

16. I.E., the democrats need to grow some cajones.
I've been saying this ever since we were getting ready for the 2004 elections. The democrats seem to be afraid to come out and say things up front that need to be said... things like 'lie' 'election theft' 'just plain ()*&ing wrong', ect.

20. Absolutely!!!
The Big Dog did the RIGHT thing. He did what all Democrats should do when
a reporter LIES or a Republican lies.

Enough is enough!

Democrats have got to STOP acting like confused middle-school students who repeatedly
get their lunch money stolen.

Stand up and stand tall against lies and disinformation. Express outrage, speak
truth to power and smash their hypocrisy right back in their face.

And when you go on "Meet The Press" or "This Week"...start shouting the truth, veer off
from the polite format and start calling it like it is!!!

The time for manners and pat answers is OVER!!

Fight for our country with fighting words!

22. Well hallelujah!
Dean declares that "President Clinton did exactly what Democrats need to do in this election. Democrats need to stand up to the right-wing propaganda machine and tell the truth."

Strongly implied in that statement is that Dems could be speaking out more and aren't being gagged by the corporate media to the extent that they can't do what Clinton has.

Are you listening, Reid and Pelosi?

24. What do you do to a bully? Ask him to apologize or fight back?
Too often the Democratic response to getting a punch in the nose by bullies on the Right is to stand up and ask the bully to apologize. "Mr. Bully, I want you to say your sorry. Everyone knows you did a bad thing." It's a stupid, weak, and ineffective response that plays directly into the Republican machine's calculations.

Stand up and punch back. Knock them down. Take back the security issue. Show some fire and conviction that Bush and his yes-men are imperiling America at every turn, and then maybe the country will get behind you. Clinton is showing you how it's done.

25. Dean seems frustrated that Dems let R-Wingers control every issue
every agenda.

They are not speaking up about torture because they are afraid how R-W will spin it.
They are not denouncing the war the way Democrats want them to because they are afraid of how the R-W will spin it.

If Dems want sound wins, they have to speak up or lose again.
Stop trying to win over the R-Wingers and stand up for your own people!

26. But...but...but...the MSM thinks it was DIGNIFIED!!
The morning show "news" segments were atwitter about the interview. How undignified! A former President, mixing it up with a news anchor! Bad bad bad. Okay, America? Faux attacks = good. Clinton defends = bad. And this was on NBC - not Faux.

My reaction was "good for Bill - about time someone mentioned that at least Clinton went after bin Laden, instead of just ignoring the threat as the brand new Bush administration so pointedly did (Clinton went after him, and we're the anti-Clinton, so we'll ignore the problem).

But of couse the MSM twisted it.

29. Why does anyone give a shread of legitamacy to FAUX news?

Why did Clinton go on Fox news? What was he expecting a FAIR AND BALANCED interview?

Common, get real, Clinton got what he deserved for even seting foot inside a fox studio.

He wanted to defend himself in the only major outlet that would dare to justify "Path to 9/11."

I think it's Fox that got what it deserved!

31. My biggest beef with Clinton and Dean
...as well as with many other Dems, is their adopting the phrase "war on terror." There can no more be a war on terror, as there can be a war on unmannerliness or stupidity. You can't declare war on a concept. You can fight it, repel it, prevent it, or yield toit, but you can't declare war on it. Republicans came up with the phrase to give themselves to employ military forces anywhere they choose, for an indefinite period of time.

It's a war that can never be won.
