Blame Dems first
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 11:42 AM by nini
Why do I see so much of this here? I swear to God no matter what the issue there seems to be a faction that will bash the Dems involved regardless of how justified it is. I'm not saying some Democrats don't need to be brought to task on some things, what I am saying is when that becomes the focus of the debates - the focus is off what the issue really is. We spend more time bashing our own than going after the source of situation in the first place - the Republican controlled government and the hell they're driven us into.

The fighting about Chavez and who said what after - Why is this still a huge topic here? Surely, everyone has had the chance to voice their opinion on it by now.

Karl Rove - this maniac is mentioned EVERY time a republican does something crappy. NEWS ALERT - MOST REPUBLICANS IN CONTROL NOW ARE SLIMY ENOUGH TO DO THESE UNDER-HANDED THINGS ON THEIR OWN. They didn't get where they are by playing nice.

DemocraticUnderground is the best place on the internet to get the info we need to fight back. We need to use DU as a tool to keep informed and to motivate each other to keep up the fight. It is also the best place to vent our frustrations which we all need to do, but how much is too much?

I could go on but I will leave with one suggestion. For all the hours we spend here at DU re-hashing the same topic over and over - take one hour a day, a couple hours a week etc.. and go out and help with a campaign, talk to people you know are on the fence on the issues, help at a homeless shelter or just seek peace within yourself in anyway that helps you. Being frustrated and pissed off all the time is not good for anyone.

We are destroying ourselves by allowing the right wing to dictate our agenda - in and out of Congress. We can't get the country's agenda in Congress changed until we get a majority back. In the meantime we can at least not allow them to keep us so wound up that we spend valuable time rehashing the same ol' crap here instead of getting out and fighting the fight in any way that will help.

They like to see us fighting here instead of in the real trenches. Think about it. They've got us where they want us - and it's not just Rove's fault.

5. vent? on dems? in non truths? vent on the repugs and the pigs they are
at least you have a reality to vent on. to sit there and vent that the dems are spineless and dems should do this and that when there is no way for them to do this and that, in total illusion......... is harmful. do you really not see the point of the op?

6. Because DUers are *geniuses*... But hey - at least you never....
... need to wonder how the country got so screwed up. The geniuses here are the *best* the country has to offer - that pretty much answers all questions about how we as a nation ended up this way.

9. I don't like the Blame Dems First contingent
But I do sympathize with those who are disappointed by too-frequent rhetorical parsing, obvious triangulation and patent pandering on the part of high-profile elected Democrats.

Your point about the GOP not needing Rove to underpin all the illegal and immoral things they do is very well taken, and deserves discussion. The whole damn lot of them, even their so-called moderates and mavericks, are the real enemy.

Yet if I've learned anything in the years since the trumped-up, Constitution-shredding Clinton impeachment sham, it's that I have an apparently limitless capacity for anger, disgust and shame at what's going on in America. And too often, by their words and deeds (or lack thereof), elected Democrats provoke me too.

Having said that, I believe 100% that now is not the time to pile on them. First we get our Congressional majorities back; then we can go about holding their feet to the fire.

So in spite of some of my misgivings, I applaud your post. K & R.

12. I absolutely believe we need to get after own
Definitely. There are some that need a royal smackdown. We need to go right to them at the source and not spend all our time hear preaching to the choir.

We need to get Congress back is exactly my point - until then we're pretty much impotent in regards to the agenda.

thanks

14. You know, the amazing thing is...
...when you get out of here, and out onto the streets - door knocking, and campaign events, and such - there is an ENTHUSIASM for Dems just ripe for the picking. We CAN win this thing if we get OUT there and HELP, instead of burrowing in here and defeating ourselves in our own minds.

Never Give Up.
