2. Thank you - couldn't have said it better myself
I cannot, for the life of me, understand what St. Torum means when he talks about the "wonderful, biased media in this community". I lived in this borough the Senator visited, and it's heavily GOP.

Don't know what he's talking about when he talks about the "biased media" in the Harrisburg metro area.

3. He says he doesn't pay taxes in Virginia.
Who is paying the taxes on his million dollar house in Loudoun County, VA?

4. Excellent question, and if I was a Pennsylvania voter that's one query
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 11:50 AM by Penndems
I'd put to him. Just who is paying Santorum's personal property tax here?

9. I checked the Loudoun County, VA
personal property tax website and Santorum's taxes (over $8,000 per year) are paid. He and his wife are the listed owners.

10. Did Santorum pay the Virginia personal property tax?
If he's paying the PPT here in Virginia and Pennsylvania, he must be making a boatload of money, LOL! I'd estimate the taxes on a million-dollar home in Loudoun County would be somewhere between $4,000-$6,000.

I've heard Santorum poor-mouth himself on several different occasions. In fact, he talks about how much it costs to live in the D.C. area (no shit, Sherlock). If he's so broke, where's he getting the money?

Somebody has some big bucks. He clearly states on the video clip that he does not pay taxes in VA.

"chump change" - then who the hell IS?

He also paid his $487.20 here in PA.

12. That's IT? A lousy $487.20??!!
You have got to be kidding me! Geez, that won't even get you a decent apartment here in Northern Virginia, much less a mansion.

That guy is a work of art. Geez, I can't wait for Bob Casey to get elected Senator. November 7th can't come soon enough!

15. Four Hundred Eighty-Seven Dollars is just unbelievable
Judas Priest, our yearly Personal Property Tax on a three-bedroom, three-bath townhouse run almost $1,500. Amazing!

Santorum told the lady in the video that he doesn't pay taxes here in Virginia. If that's true, who's paying the PPT on that mansion in Leesburg? Is he screwing the state out of revenue? If so, the Virginia State Department of Taxation needs to look into St. Turum's tax records.

19. We don't show property photos here in Virginia
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 04:15 PM by Penndems
But a fellow DUer maintains a website (Santorum Cybergate: http://santorumcybergate.blogspot.com/) that has a photo of "San-Tara" on it.

I've been through that neighborhood where the Santorums reside. This is a VERY exclusive area, globalvilliage. The houses are built around a circular road. Directly across the circle from Santorum is the home of Redskins coach Joe Gibbs.

It's definitely not your average all-American enclave. The Pittsburgh equivalent would be maybe Fox Chapel or Sewickley Heights. :wow: :hi:

22. Yes ma'am! That's "San-Tara"
:eyes:

You know, that's one of the things I really like about Pennsylvania - there's no clear-cutting up there. Down here, the developers are such deceitful crooks they think they can do anything they want, and folks won't complain.

Except they ARE complaining.

So, how come they're clear-cutting in Virginia, but not in PA - or ARE they clear-cutting up there? ;) :hi:

Is Toll Brothers one of Santorum's campaign contributors? I need to look this up on newsmeat.com.

ON EDIT: YES, they sure are! Here's a link: http://www.newsmeat.com/campaign_contributions_to_politicians/donor_list.php?candidate_id=S4PA00063

was beautiful rolling farmland-not many trees. I have seen other Toll Brother communities in VA that have been clear cut-not sure about PA.

27. Don't know what your age is, countingcars (none of my business!), but the
land that Santorum's subdivision is built on was once farmland owned by television/radio legend Arthur Godfrey. He and his late wife, Mary, owned several hundred acres outside of Leesburg.

30. I have lived in Loudoun County
Edited on Sun Sep-24-06 05:48 PM by countingbluecars
for over 25 years. I was born and raised in PA but moved to VA for a teaching position. Much of my family still lives in PA, so I am quite interested in Santorum's politics.

I am familiar with the Godfrey property, Beacon Hill. I have watched new McMansions pop up there almost daily on my commute to and from work.

I have a good friend who has fond childhood memories of living on Shenstone Farm (where Santorum now lives). Her father was the farm manager there years ago. She never mentioned that Godfrey owned Shenstone, but it makes sense. The Beacon Hill development and Shenstone are on opposite sides of Route 7 outside of Leesburg.

5. He's so full of bullshit.
I pay more property taxes to Allegheny Co. than he does. He says "I don't pay taxes in VA, I pay taxes in PA." So, is he saying he pays property tax on his 100K house in Penn Hills but not on his $1mil house in VA?
Then he says "one person says something negative..." Sorry, Ricky, there are lots of us. Something you'll have to admit to in about six weeks.
He's pissed because the local Harrisburg station fact checked his Casey attack ad and found it to be full of lies.
What an asshole.

7. You know what the irony is here?
South Central PA is the only region in the state where Santorum is ahead of Casey. With the exception of the City of Harrisburg, that area is heavily Republican - and Santorum is bitching about the media coverage, LOL!

BTW, I recognized the fat guy with the crew cut walking behind St. Torum. He's with the Cumberland County Republican Committee (and the borough fire department - notice the emblem on his polo shirt). Bigger assholes you will never meet, believe me.

Two of the young ladies at the booth the Senator stopped at lived not far from me. They didn't sound very enthused to speak to Santorum!

But, when the rubber meets the road, the majority of voters will decide on November 7th that Bob Casey is more in tune with the needs of Pennsylvanians. :D
