Dining Notes: If Buffett dines there, people follow

BY JOHN KEENAN

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Omahans follow Warren Buffett in all things - including his choice of restaurant.

The Bonefish Grill at 120 Regency Parkway was Buffett's first stop after his surprise wedding last month, a fact that was reported in The World-Herald, Time magazine, the London Times and many more media outlets.

So when a friend decided to take her parents out for their anniversary last week, she followed the Oracle of Omaha's footsteps, taking them to the Bonefish Grill.

"If it's good enough for Warren Buffett, it's good enough for us," she told her parents.

That's a popular attitude, said Nick Muriedas, manager of Omaha's Bonefish.

"It's not from anything we've done," said Muriedas, adding that the attention had taken the restaurant by surprise. The restaurant has done nothing to promote the Buffett visit.

"People come in and say, 'Hey, we heard that Warren Buffett came in here,'" Muriedas said.

That's good news for the Crescent Moon Ale House. Buffett was seen having lunch Sept. 15 at the 3578 Farnam St. tavern. With him was pro basketball star LeBron James.

2. He eats at a place in our little town all the time.
Servino, in Tiburon, California.

He brings a bunch of people and they all just hang around a drink and eat.

3. And the good news is, you don't have to be rich to dine at the Bonefish
Grill.

It's a touch on the pricey side for a chain, but as an "occasion" restaurant, pretty good value for the money.
