Something odd happened on my street today involving the Military Police.

I was taking my usual walk, and I notice a very ominous MP vehicle in a driveway, DOD federal plates.

I first though, dear god not a death in my neighborhood, but then it occured to me that would be a chaplain.

So being the nosey lonely neighbor I'm famous for.... I took a seat under a tree across the road and watched for a bit. 10 min laters sure enough, the 2 ginormous MP guys in Army Uniforms came out with a very young guy in handcuffs. His mother and father followed in their car when they left.

Whatch you guys think? The kid was AWOL? Maybe didn't show up for bootcamp? Probably turned himself in?

At any rate it was damn sad to see.

3. He may have signed up and didn't show.
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 03:24 PM by Frustratedlady
That happened 30 years ago to my son. He didn't realize he had actually signed up for anything, but one day they called and threatened to throw him in the brig if he didn't show up for his physical and/or whatever they do before they decide they actually want you. He did go in, but we called our senator and got their hands off him. He had just gone into the recruiting office to see what the details were if he did enlist.

They can be slick when they need to meet their goals. Our senator was furious and reamed them out good!

Edited to clear up message.

10. I think the apple pie idea (any comfort food) is a winner.
It also sounds like they could use some "neighborly" support at the moment.

Please keep us posted.
