OMG! He called the Emperor "naked"!!!
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 02:40 PM by TahitiNut
Immediately, there were those who called him a brat ... a mere child. And, by the way, we heard that he's gotten in trouble with the school couselor. And he's from another town! Send him home! He's insulting us!

Only us adults should be permitted to criticize the new clothing.

Little Hugo should be ignored. Long live the Empire! (Even if we don't like the media tailoring.)

1. That's really what the fuss is about
Continuing the charade is psychologically easier, causes far less anxiety, than excepting the truth that is right in front of you. Anyone who points out the obvious is a silly child--run along now.

3. It's remarkable to me that the fable is being acted out yet again.
This is one of the most well-known fables among political junkies and it's being acted out so cluelessly it's astonishing. I have to wonder whether people, even on DU, have lost all ability to think and examine such events rationally at all. It's EXACTLY like a bunch of dysfunctional adult parade-goers attacking the child for saying what they've all got huge emotional investments in suppressing in themselves.

2. Now stop that you cannot just make Chavez posts willy-nilly!
Joke - Chavez and the Clenis were hanging out at a bar, when along comes a talking crowbar and three spider monkeys. Each monkey wore a press pass and the crowbar was crooning Frank Sinatra.

"Fly me to the moon," said the crowbar.

"NASA could be shutdown after an attempt to fly to the moon", said the monkeys in unison.

"Let me play under the stars", replied the crowbar.

"A recent study by researchers somewhere shows that starlight causes cancer," said the monkeys.

Chavez turns to the Clenis and says, "I don't know what is weirder, a talking crowbar or the fact that I'm talking to Bill Clinton's penis in a bar."

The Clenis responded, "well at least your not 3 to 6 inches long, it's hell climbing up on a barstool!"

9. Imagine if there had been a UN in the 1930's & a leader of some Nation had
stood up in the UN to describe the early despotic and fascist desires and conquests of Hitler prior to the break out of full blown WWII and the "final solution"....How do you think they would have approached the subject or described the evil son of a bitch? With politeness? With the finest of etiquette? Or rather, would that person have described him "as the devil" and described in detail and warned of the dangers that he posed?

I believe that this is what Mr. Hugo Chavez was trying to do for the world in describing Mr. Bush and "warning" the world of what is to come. I am not going to get in to any debates of "Bush = Hitler", but my point is that if in the early rise of Hitler there had been people who had spoken out, how might they have described him? I personally think that all the dangers in the world exist with George W. Bush and so far of what we have seen of his administration, the lies, the torture, the occupation of Iraq and now the beating of the drums of war for Iran, I think Hugo Chavez's warning was much needed. I think he needed to use the reference to the "devil" in order to try and get some attention to what he was saying.

Hopefully people are listening to the words, not the music....

14. Your point is well taken.
I realize his remarks for the most part were on the money. It's odd, though, that even people defending him get tripped up on the "devil" bit. His actual charge was "imperialist" (which admittedly doesn't go over very well in the US media either). "World Dictator" should have the sound bite. But no, we get stuck with "devil."

... than Junior and Cheney and Rumsfeld combined have spoken in over five years.
Those damned kids just don't know how to keep quiet when the Emperor is parading by in his new clothes. :dunce:
(They need to take lessons from our Congresscritters. Now, THEY know fine fashion!)

16. I've never seen any signs that Bush ever tells the truth.
Rumsfeld did once, when he smelled a piece of ass get uncovered in the fall of 2003, I believe.

The Emperor realized that the people were right but could not admit to that. He thought it better to continue the procession under the illusion that anyone who couldn't see his clothes was either stupid or incompetent. And he stood stiffly on his carriage, while behind him a page held his imaginary mantle.

http://deoxy.org/emperors.htm

Watch the Emperor closely and you can easily see that he believes those who oppose him are either stupid or incompetent.

Notice how stiffly he stands and walks.

Notice how patient he is.

Notice how condescending he is.

Notice how batshit, frog-fucking insane he is!

21. It's like this...
Hearing Hugo Chavez call our president the devil is sort of like when someone says your dog is ugly.

Yes, Mr. Chavez, our dog is ugly. In fact, he's the ugliest dog we've ever owned. It just hurts to hear it from someone outside of the family.

23. It's more like being told our dog has killed the neighbor's children.
We have a dog that should be euthanized as a danger to our community. To trivialize it as mere appearances is a failure to recognize the atrocities being committed.
