France probes report of bin Laden's death
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14963302/

PARIS - The French defense ministry on Saturday called for an internal investigation of the leak of an intelligence document that raises the possibility that Osama bin Laden may have died of typhoid in Pakistan a month ago but said the report of the death remained unverified.

“The information defused this morning by the l’Est Republicain newspaper concerning the possible death of Osama bin Laden cannot be confirmed,” a Defense Ministry statement said.

The daily newspaper for the Lorraine region in eastern France printed what it described as a confidential document from the French foreign intelligence service DGSE citing an uncorroborated report from Saudi secret services that the leader of the al-Qaida terror network had died.

3. An interesting choice of words, was it not?
Was this supposed to be the "October surprise" that Rove talked about.

6. Yes, how lame!
But torturing everyone taken in custody by the "watered down" CIA (complements of Porter Goss and his cronies) will be sure to snag us enemies for generations.

The Executive Branch knows that if we continue to OPENLY support torture, it won't be long until we will have another terrorist attack on our soil.

If they truly cared about Our Safety, they wouldn't be grabbing people off the street, kicking down their front doors, abducting every non-child male, imprisoning them indefinitely.

I'm proud that the US Military stated that they will uphold the Geneva Conventions and NOT succumb to the erroneous and sociopath temptation to torture.

Not only is torture ineffective to glean truly valid intelligence, it will make you (the USA) their enemy for life ... and most times, these prisoners are not guilty of a crime.

7. Pretty pathetic surprise.
Considering bin Laden has a rum kidney and was fast heading in that direction even before 9/11, so the Bushists don't have bragging rights to it if he did die.

12. What can we expect but pathetic results from this administration.
I've heard the kidney ailment rumor was just that, a rumor. That bin Laden wasn't suffering from kidney disease.

4. I wonder if this was the October surprise from Rove...
It would be really easy to dress this up with:

"Our glorious troops after days of struggle and sacrifice tracked down the murderer OBL and we can now confirm that he is in fact dead. We are doing DNA tests to confirm that the deceased is in fact OBL but we are resonabbly confident that we have our man"

5. They are circulating this crap because of the underlying given
that if his whereabouts is leaked or discovered by someone not in on bushitler's plan for his freedom, that artillery will fly in that "remote area of Pakistan" with or without consent of the governments on either side of the fence.

8. What a strategy we have - wait until he checks into
a hospital and dies of illness. Castro must be sweating this out.

9. From SAUDI secret services...
Why not just call the Bin Laden family for confirmation? You can bet they'd know.

Also, he must have either gotten a kidney transplant at some point (generally somewhat difficult to do in a cave, I imagine) or been maintaining on a dialysis machine (ditto about the cave) for years now. Hard to believe you can lead much of a secret life under either of these conditions if a bunch of cooperating governments want to find you.

11. Did you see the recent exchange between * and Wolfe Blitzer?
Wolfe asked something to the effect...If you knew that Bin Laden was sighted just over the border of Pakistan, but you did not have permission to go in after him, would you do it anyway?

Withut much hesitation..."Absolutely."

Wolfe: "You would?"

* "Absolutely."

on and on ad nauseum. I wondered at the time what that was all about. Add to that KK's comment about the October surprise...as it rolls out, or however he put it, and you have a nice scenario laid out before you.

They probably have OBL on ice.
