The Big Dog Gives Fox News The Smackdown!!
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/22/clinton-fox/

FULL TRANSCRIPT: Clinton Takes On Fox News
Today, President Bill Clinton taped an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, which is scheduled to be aired Sunday. He was told the interview would focus on his nonpartisan efforts to raise over $7 billion to combat the world’s biggest problems.

Early in the interview, Wallace attempted to smear Clinton with the same kind of misinformation contained in ABC’s Path to 9/11. Clinton was having none of it.

ThinkProgress has obtained a transcript of the interview. Here are some highlights –

Wallace repeats Path to 9/11 misinformation, Clinton fights back:

CLINTON: OK, let’s talk about it. I will answer all of those things on the merits but I want to talk about the context of which this arises. I’m being asked this on the FOX network…ABC just had a right wing conservative on the Path to 9/11 falsely claim that it was based on the 9/11 Commission report with three things asserted against me that are directly contradicted by the 9/11 Commission report. I think it’s very interesting that all the conservative Republicans who now say that I didn’t do enough, claimed that I was obsessed with Bin Laden. All of President Bush’s neocons claimed that I was too obsessed with finding Bin Laden when they didn’t have a single meeting about Bin Laden for the nine months after I left office. All the right wingers who now say that I didn’t do enough said that I did too much. Same people.

1. It's already being spun as "Clinton was angry and defensive"
drudge had a clip from fox news on his site(from youtube).
Let's just say that it was edited in a way to show Clinton as angry and, if I recall correctly, the last words he says are "I failed."

2. The words to remember are "at least I tried"
He was angry but far from defensive. It was more like "the balls back to you". W has disgraced us for almost six years and what had he done about OBL?

3. I would be mad too, and I would defend myself.
Good for him. He should have anticipated the ambush, though. Maybe he did. But if I were Clinton I never would have granted an interview to Faux Snooze.

7. That short clip was on Hannity and Colmes tonight
It showed BC obviously disturbed, and since it was right after the Olberman interview, I noticed the contrast.

I wondered what Wallace did to perturb him. Keith indeed, refered cryptically to the Fox interview.

They'll play the angry clip all day tomorrow ending in the phrase "I failed".
Nothing BC could have done would have been correct as Fox will use it as they wish.

I think it's time for all democrats to avoid Fox Channel. After a couple months of nothing but Ollie North and Dick Morris, channels will be changing due to lack of content.

8. I think there's a murder conviction in there, too.
Pretty sure I heard him mention it on one of his shows, although I wasn't paying very close attention.

He's a very strange man.

Wonder how straight-livin', Bible thumpin' wingers accomodate his 9 kids by several women. They always make a racket about it when it's a minority person with several kids by several women, like Kansas City's late, great defensive player, Derrick Thomas.

10. You would think
the Clinton's new found friendship with Murdock would have given the ability to require a full airing of the interview. Bill is no newby to spin or edit manipulation, and as much as they will snippet this in promos, it should be shown in it's full smack down mode. If it isn't, Fox's lies will be shown to all by way of the internets, and the longer they try to make Bill look incompetent with an edited to fit version, the longer the derision of their lies will continue.

They can't spin it too hard for too long or it will blow up in their face, but I do agree they will tone him down, especially where he points out the lack of foxes asking the same of the current misadminastration.

12. They are spinning it big time
Instead of saying the Truth, they are painting Clinton as a madman.
