Wanted: Musicians who will play for free at peace event
Yeah, so I know that doesn't sound too appealing, but let me tell you about the event. Peace Takes Courage is going to be holding a Southern US Peace Protest at the Alabama State Captiol. The event is going to be advertised towards teens and young adults, but we are welcoming people of all ages. We plan to advertise this for the next few weeks and hopefully have a pretty big turn out. We already have several people who have volunteered to help out, but we are looking for local bands that will play at the event for no pay - we don't have money. No pay doesn't really attract many people, but all the proceeds that we raise at this even are going to go towards the "save darfur" organization, so it's all for a good cause. Let me know if anyone is interested or if anyone knows a band or musician that might would do it for us.

Thanks everyone!
Ava Lowery

1. Check to see if the Musicians Union has an office where you live.
They may be willing to send an announcement out to members and you may get some good players that way.

My husband is in the union and he's always getting e-mails from our local office.

I was at a local bar tonight and the entertainment asked for donations to help willy replace his stash. They even came up with a cute little song about it.. (Can't rememeber it all)... sung to the tune of on the road again.

I guess you had to be there.

7. Willy and Waylon were picki'n and grinn'n at a park in San Antonio
for free once. No one there at first until word got out. Then it became crowded.

8. Ava, if Willy knows your amazing work, I bet he'd come...
I know you've spoken to Mike Malloy, but have you ever spoken to Randi Rhodes? She and Willy are buds. Good luck, darlin'!

9. somewhere there's an organization of musicians against the war . . .
I'm sure I have it bookmarked somewhere, but can't seem to find it right now . . . I'll post it if I find it, but in the meantime maybe someone else knows the link . . .

of the Musician's Union. We're the left-wing of the music business...

They might know if there are any good "movement" musicians in the south.

On edit: email them at office@local1000.com

16. Contact the Dixie Chicks!
I'll bet they'd be happy to help you out.
Contact their management and introduce yourself.
I'd bet they already know who you are.
