Media Matters posts mother of all debunk reviews of O'Reilly's new book
http://mediamatters.org/items/200609220010

"My goal," Bill O'Reilly writes in the introduction to his latest book, Culture Warrior, which is published by Random House's Broadway Books imprint and will go on sale September 25, "is to expose and defeat people who have the power to do you great harm. My weapons will be facts and superior analysis based on those facts" (Page 5).

But if "facts" and "superior analysis" are what readers are after, they may want to look elsewhere. Media Matters for America's review of Culture Warrior shows the book to be replete with factual errors, rank hypocrisy, and ad hominem attacks directed at anyone who has crossed swords with O'Reilly.

O'Reilly recently claimed to have thwarted an attempt by Media Matters to review Culture Warrior prior to its release. On the September 21 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, he noted that his publisher had refused a request to provide an advance copy to "a guy who writes for the left-wing smear site Media Matters." "Nice try," O'Reilly said, "no book." Nice try, Mr. O'Reilly.

3. Wow - just finished the first half of MMFA's article
It's long, it's hilarious, it's the most thorough evisceration of the creepy, sex-harassing, bullying, "Just plain average guy" with a freakin' gazebo in his backyard I've yet read.

4. Thanks for posting. It is indeed a forensic examination of Bill's B.S.

What an excellent resource Media Matters is.

This passage excerpted from Bill's B.S. book really makes me long for a time-machine that could turn the clock back 11 years or so:

"A decade ago, the Fox Newschannel and The Factor did not exist. Think about what America would be like now if we had not arrived on the scene and provided Americans with an alternative to the strongly S-P <"secular progressive"> established media." (Pages 207-208)

Yes, where would the Kool-Aid drinkers go? Perhaps our media as a whole would not be so eager now to damage the country by being content to substitute degrading propaganda, lies and swill for thoughtful, tenacious journalism.

7. One thing he says I believe:
"No longer can I even engage a stranger in conversation -- there are too many crazies out there. ... I am never off the job and am always on guard"

If I saw this disgusting piece of filth in public, I would laugh at him and point out he is no better than Tokyo Rose.

I'm guessing he gets that a lot.

8. Tokyo Rose, or a least the lady accused and convicted
of treason for being her (no such person existed), is a true American hero. It's an amazing story of a kind and generous first generation Japanese-American woman who was swiftboated by an aggressive press. She served six years of a ten year sentence and was later give a full pardon by Gerald Ford.

However, O'really still remains a disgusting piece of filth.

9. "My goal," Bill O'Reilly writes is lots of money
Why does a man who has his own TV show in primetime, and does a radio show during the day, need to write so many books?

The same people buying the books, are his TV&Radio listeners, they've already heard all his crap.

10. Seriously, someone show me proof that Bill O'Reilly is a Christian
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 01:48 AM by LynneSin
And not that Christianity that bases everything they think, say and do on the teachings of Paul, but show me how he lives the life that exemplifies who Jesus was and what Jesus teachings were about.

Does Bill fit any of these sayings that Jesus said?

* Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 3)
* Blessed are the meek: for they shall posses the land. (Verse 4)
* Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse 5)
* Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. (Verse 6)
* Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse 7)
* Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. (Verse 8)
* Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Verse 9)
* Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 10)

How about these 10 commandants from the Old Testament - is Bill O'Reilly obeying every one of them? Perhaps your Falafel harassment didn't crossover into #7, but the fact that you lusted after her is definitely violating #10. I'm not sure how they'll interpret #6 - I mean, you've probably never killed anyone but you justify & glorify a war in which thousands have been killed. But we all know you've blown it with #9 - I mean geez, the fact that you brag about winning awards and punting contests have been debunked numerous times pretty much makes you a breaker of commandment #9

1 "I am The Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me."

2 "You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I The Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love Me and keep My Commandments."

3 "You shall not take The Name of The Lord your God in vain; for The Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His Name in vain."

4 " Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; but the seventh day is a Sabbath to The Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your manservant, or your maidservant, or your cattle, or the sojourner who is within your gates; for in six days The Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore The Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it."

5 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which The Lord your God gives you."

6 "You shall not kill."

7 "You shall not commit adultery."

8 "You shall not steal."

9 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor."

10 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or anything that is your neighbor's.

13. He's a Christian?
I could have sworn from what he was saying about S-Ps that he was talking about "Suppressive Persons" and Scientology. I could have sworn that Bill converted. The paranoia and personal attacks fit right in.
