Six years being tortured in a North Vietnamese prison camp, yet he "compromises" with King George. Some compromise. Can you waterboard someone for two minutes rather than three? Can you only pull out 1/2 of a fingernail rather than the whole thing?

McCain has put on a nice show of resisting the president's right to torture, but the bottom line is that he's bent over for King George one more time. He wants to be president so badly, there is nothing he won't do.

To my way of thinking, there are still far too many people who think that McCain is an honorable man. At one time, he was. But he's thrown it all away for a shot at ... what? Power? Control? Getting to be King? Beats me.

But I'll never understand how someone who lived through what he did would be willing to toss his honor down the sewer for thirty pieces of silver, or even the presidency. And to candidly state my current opinion of him, fuck him. Let him rot in hell with his Republican brethren.

2. After being slimed by Bush in the primaries I'd say...
...he quotes $500/night but if you slap him, he knocks $50 off the price, $100 if you spit on him.

3. He's just REALLY lowered his price ...
You're right about the "he wants to be president so badly" thing. I'm sure that's what happened -- Chimpy King told him, "either you play ball with me on this or you're not getting my fundraising list or any support from the Xtian community." Shame on McCain for putting his own political aspirations over principle and country. I once had some measure of respect for him but not anymore.

11. You know what? If John had REALLY stood up to Shrub
on this torture issue, and explained that many Presidents, Armies, and CIA have managed to comply with the Geneva treatyfor 50+ years, and HE wasn't changing things NOW, I think he would have gotten a lot more supporters than caving did!

Maybe no one on DU would ever support him, but I really believethere are a lot of voters who are sick and tired of Shrub getting away with murder wowuld have respected him for that stance. I believe he's lost those people now, and most likely will never get them back! If he really is doing this BS for personal gain, someone advising him is screwing up Royally!

lie down for free...McCain really thinks the "Bush crime family" is going to support him for all of his many blow jobs he's given them...The lying two-face McCain is a pile of shit...Still, McCain's duplicity is not quite fascist enough for the crime family to endorse and trust to rule the Bush corporate empire.

12. Why is everyone surprised at the old Keating Five McCain? He's
been dirty for thirty years. So he stood up, or did he?

"Look, Look, everyone. The Honorable Republicans stood up and faced down the president. They caused the president to compromise while the Democrats did nothing. Settle down people, settle down. The Republicans won't betray you. All hail the Republicans."

And that sounds like cover for the Prez to me.

13. McCain tried to get the UFC banned...
...to protect his investments in boxing. The second part of that sentence is more conspiracy theory then fact, but the first half is enough to make me hate him.

14. 10 bucks after reading this
The senators agreed to a White House proposal to make the standard on interrogation treatment retroactive to 1997, so C.I.A. and military personnel could not be prosecuted for past treatment under standards the administration considers vague.

In other words Bush covers his own ass from prosecution

15. I was most insulted by the ugly way he pronounced "ACLU" several
times in his explanation of why he was once again bending over for bush.

It stands for AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION, John. To me and to millions of Americans, this acronym is not a dirty word, but a promise of OUR rights under OUR constitution. Shame on you for trying to make it that.
