Poll question: Were you offended by Hugo Chavez's remarks about Bush at the UN?
There is talk in the media and from Democrats that we should be "offended" that Hugo Chavez insulted George, Bush because he is the "President".

In my view, I was not offended at all. Mr. Bush and his gang have demonized half of this country since their ascended to power in 2001. I see no reason whatsoever to come to the "defense of George W. Bush". It's just a "war of words" between Bush and Chavez.

10. Mostly amused
After all, it was a JOKE as he took the podium that had "recently been vacated by the devil" or words to that effect and crossed himself. The General Assembly got a good laugh out of it.

You have to be humorless, a Freeper or a total moron to be offended.

2. There should be an 'I don't care one way or the other' option
I can't understand the fuss over this. Who cares what he said, one way or the other?

7. My Feelings Exactly
There needs to be a way for the world to see Bush as we do, but I can't help but think when things are done in the way Chavez did them, they don't benefit us nearly as much as they should.

12. Bush has been called a lot worse here. I feel no need to gin up offense
just because Bush is the President and a foreign leader said mean things about him. Bush is reaping what he has sown.

15. No, but his comments sure helped the Republicans
It's a big annoyance that we have invested both Head of State and Head of Government into the same office. If we had a King, all the RW bozos could concentrate all their phony patriotism on the head of state and not worry whether someone called the Prime Minister the Devil......

18. Not as much offended
as reassured that he is as much of an asshole as I have always thought.

At least he kept his shoe on.

In my opinion, he's just another oilman and his beefs with Bush are all about oil.

19. My view:
Chavez: "Bush is a poopyhead!"

Bush: "No, you're a poopyhead!"

Chavez: *hits Bush*

Bush: *cries*

Chavez: *wets pants*

In other words, where's the playground monitor when you need her?

This entire planet is regressing to 3rd grade, I swear.

Who cares who called who what name? It's just more stupid crap to distract us all.

20. The UN is not the United States, he can say whatever he wants.
In this case, is the Chavez comment any different than the "axis of evil" that **** spouts? It is a case of childish "called you this, called you that". Personally, I wish more world leaders would speak out. Maybe then, some of ***'s followers would pay attention to the downward spiral in which we now find ourselves.

Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 02:54 PM by Tyo
He had to express himself in a way that Bush would understand. No diplomatic niceties, no big words, just good old freshman fratboy speak. At least he didn't bring up Bush's famous fart pranks.

25. There is nothing anyone could say about Bush that would offend me.
It is a ridiculous idea. He does not represent me, and he deserves all the criticism that can be heaped on him, from any source whatsoever.

26. To be honest
when I watched the tape of the speech... I thought he was trying to make joke and get a crowd
reaction... especially when he started waving the "stench" of sulfur away from the podium.

I'm sure *'s done much worse about other world leaders... in fact I *know* he has.
