Idaho town wants its citizens to arm themselves
I'm not against people hunting to put food on the table but I most definitely don't want a bunch of Rambo's running around with assault rifles. This is just scarey and the reason why we have police.

Greenleaf wants homeowners to arm themselves

10:54 AM MDT on Friday, September 22, 2006

GREANLEAF - A small Canyon County town is considering a city ordinance that would recommend every homeowner have a gun and know how to use it.

A Greenleaf city council member proposed the idea as part of a plan to handle civil emergencies.

It would create citizen response teams and neighborhood watch groups, but would also recommend citizens own a gun and ammunition.

14. When I started to carry concealed
When I first obtained my concealed weapons permit and started to carry, I was surprised at the changes in my personality. I am now more polite. I drive closer to the speed limit and have become less aggressive. No longer do I give other idiots on the highway the finger. The need to prove how manly I am has been replaced with the desire to avoid confrontation at all costs.

Owning and carrying a weapon is an enormous responsibility, I have never met a person with a carry permit and a Rambo attitude.

An armed society is a polite society.

3. So it's just for common crime?
What emergency are they expecting? I don't care if everyone in town has a Kalishnakov under his or her bed, I'm just wonder what they are expecting.

They are nowhere near each other about 317 miles apart. And thanks for the heads-up, I never heard of Sandpoint or it being a miltia haven.

11. It's down by Boise
You know, build a Republican based economy on deregulated farming and technology, import all sorts of cheap labor immigrants, then make sure the populous stays divided by encouraging the locals to arm themselves to defend against the "invasion".

5. If I lived there I'd sure as hell be defying
a stupid law like that. I know nothing about guns, have no interest in them. I'd be a menace to society with one. And I don't need to hear from all those who themselves know guns and know how to use them. That's for them, no guns are for me.
