Saudis pledged oil price cut before US vote-report
Note: Reuters, 04-18-04 and in 11/07/06 we're seeing it happen again.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, promised President Bush the Saudis would cut oil prices before November to ensure the U.S. economy is strong on election day, journalist Bob Woodward said in a television interview Sunday.

In an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" about his new book "Plan of Attack" on the Bush administration's preparations for the Iraq war, Woodward, a senior editor at the Washington Post, said Prince Bandar pledged the Saudi's would try to fine-tune oil prices to prime the U.S. economy for the election -- a move they understood would favor Bush's re-election.
Simply put, if they did it then why not do it again when power is again at stake in the US.

1. There is no doubt in my mind about this and the American oil co.
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 01:57 PM by Hubert Flottz
CEOs can do the same thing!

EDIT...If The GOP wins in November...I predict that Bush will reward the oil barons by letting them raise gasoline to over $4.00 a gallon by next spring! I'd almost bet that he'll let them raise heating oil the day after the election. We are dealing with CRIMINALS and rip off artists.

4. Robert Baer has something to say about that....
in his book.."Sleeping with the Devil"...he wrote:

"For decades, the United States and Saudi Arabia have been locked in a "harmony of interests." America counted on the Saudis for cheap oil, political stability in the Middle East, and lucrative business relationships for the United States, while providing a voracious market for the kingdom's vast oil reserves. With money and oil flowing freely between Washington and Riyadh, the United States has felt secure in its relationship with the Saudis and the ruling Al Sa'ud family. But the rot at the core of our "friendship" with the Saudis was dramatically revealed when it became apparent that fifteen of the nineteen September 11 hijackers proved to be Saudi citizens.

30. Nothing we didn't already know? - But something we shoudn't forget
enjoy the lowering gad prices, we wouldn't be experiencing this if it wasn't for the upcoming election - watch OPEC/Chevron/Texaco to pull the plug the day after the election regardless of who wins the house and senate.

google search in 2004 and you will see that Mr. Bendar Bush promised Bush jr. that he has "nothing to worry about"...that in due time oil prices will come down in november and that your re-election is, "certain".

he is a conservative. He is pro-business.

Hell, the only reason he pretends to care about outsourcing is so he can keep his ratings.

13. A question here
We all know this is why gas prices are lower right now. Has anyone not thought of a way to profit from this?

For instance, start a company that buys bulk Gas and stores it during politically motivated low oil prices.

Than, when the price goes up again, release that gas onto the market to independent gas stations.

Everyone will want to buy your gas and the big oil companies will be forced to lower theirs. Or not.

Either way, the consumer could get shielded from rollercoaster gas prices.

35. Unfortunately Saudi Production Doesn't Set Price
They've been running full-tap for 2 years. They might be able to drive the price up by cutting production (or releasing their real reserve numbers) but they have no way of increasing production to drive price down. Sorry.

36. This illustrates the Rovian skill behind the term "Islamo-fascism"...

as if this is something we are fighting in the War on Terror. In actuality, it is something we need to fight which is a cancer growing more strongly within the Republican party. Americans who only care about the economy are now supporting Bush more eagerly due to lowering gas prices. This is what the War is really all about, and really all that these people care about, at the expense of our soldiers and our nation's reputation, and our Constitution.

Works for me. I'm happy to buy their gas for two bucks a gallon, or a buck and a half, or whatever, but I'm still voting the petrocrats out of office.
