Are Preachers Calling for Holy War? Seems like it!
I just happened to catch one preacher on Sunday - I don't know who he is - that was just scaring people to death. The Muslims anre coming, the Muslims are coming! And they are patient. They maycome tomorrow or 20 years or 50 years from now. And they will take away all of our freedoms - including our freedome of religion and on and on.

So then I see over on rawstory.com that there is another big deal about Pat Robertson saying that Holy War is coming. And he reaches thousands of really not very educated people who will react really violently to anything about their right to being Christian taken away from them.

Its probably just another thing to get everybody riled up over - like they need anything else. But this movement among the conservative right wing Christians could be really dangerous and I wish they would knock it off. These are the very people that are capable of being every bit as violent as the Muslim radicals.

Any preacher who can't preach forgiveness
is a charlatan in my book.

A religion that acknowledges enemies needs to be improved.

1. Well, obviously if you get your IRS status pulled for being against
the war in Iraq, you should also get it pulled for preaching in favor of a Holy War.

4. Oh, yea! I absolutely agree with you on that one.
I thought the same thing. These Southern Baptist Churches here all preach politics and no one pulls their tax exemption.

5. It certainly has been the death of a lot of people over the centuries
Religion and the Black Plague. Right up there together.

8. Well, the Southern Baptists live in a world all of their own.
You either belong or you don't. You either agree or you don't - there isn't any middle ground there.

One of the churches here has an argument going on about whether the earth is flat - really! I find that so hard to understand.

You believe in something profoundly stupid and call it Faith!

9. They're always afraid of something.

If it isn't scary Muslims, it's the "War on Christmas". They seem not to feel complete unless they are under attack. There is probably a psychological term for this condition - is it paranoia, or a martyr complex, or what?

10. Southern Baptists like to feel persecuted.
I'm not sure what the deal is there. But they certainly use it to maximum effect.

They especially like to feel persecuted for their beliefs. Which is silly because no one cares what they believe. People just care when they start pushing their beliefs on other people. No one likes to have something stuffed down their throat.
