Who could ever support a Party that does not oppose "torture"?
With or without a "compromise", if the torture is not opposed, that Party does not deserve the support of the American people or the respect of the world. We know the Republicans have put their Party above their Constitution and their country. We do not expect the Democratic Party to behave likewise. Could you, in good conscience, continue to support a Party that does not oppose "torture"?

And does not the Constitution say in Article I, Section 9, that "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed"? Just what does that mean??

1. Many people in America think that torture is A OK with them.
They have no empathy, no understanding of how dangerous this is for our troops. They think that America is and always will be on top. Go figure. We get smacked down in front of the UN but that doesn't matter to many. We can and will do whatever we please. The ignorance is very frightening!Peace, Kim

3. And even if they don't realize the danger for the troops you'd
THINK that they'd figure out that the bills in committees' presently aren't good for the general population either! Call this a tin foil hat theory, if you will, but I don't think the administration is after the bad guys as much as they're after control of you and me.

4. That's right because
the thug bastard who heads our criminal government claims the power to determine American citizens as "enemy combatants" to incarcerate indefinitely without access to judicial process. I'm sure the use of the military tribunal without access to incriminating evidence is being set up for just those "enemy combatants."

The dumbass uneducated voters who will march to the polls in November to vote for the Repugs to sanction torture and kangaroo courts for "terrasts" are condemning all of us.

habeas corpus. We're going to be hearing more of the spew: If you don't have anything to hide you needn't be afeared! Let's see, we now can be "tagged" Real I.D. Act and spied upon (NSA) and thrown in the tank for political views (Patriot Act) AND be there forever! But, keep in mind we're the country with the most freedom! :sarcasm:

2. Agreed, condoning ANY form of mistreatment
completely takes away any sort of moral standing we have in this "war" on terror. so for people who so want to have and win a war on all muslims, they certainly are making it difficult or themselves

7. Won't it be lovely when the torturers come home to their families?
I can see the headlines now, when there is a domestic conflict. No more mere shootings or stabbings. We'll get to see Abu Graihb type injuries.

This country has gone to hell. El Diablo is at the helm and enough people support him to fuck us up, especially with a neutered congress.

It is OVER.
