CIA > Hayden: water boarding will continue

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/09/cia_praises_dea.html

<snip>

As reported on the Blotter on ABCNews.com, in questioning certain high-value terror suspects, the CIA has used a series of six increasingly harsh interrogation techniques that begin with a slap to the face and end with a procedure called water boarding, in which a prisoner is made to feel he is drowning.

...

Today's congressional deal, if signed into law, would allow the CIA to continue the six techniques and to continue to run secret prisons overseas for select terror suspects.

Gen. Hayden said the measure "allows us to continue to defend the homeland, attack Al Qa'ida and protect American and Allied lives."

2. Out of all the stuff they mention, this is the thing I consider torture
Sleep deprivation-no, not really torture.
Loud music-no, not really, unless it's gangsta rap, Gwar, or 12-tone music.
The use of restraints to keep people in uncomfortable position is borderline to me, because the potential for harm is there.

But, sticking someone's head under water to make him think you are going to drown him is torture.

5. Ask yourself this question
Would you be willing to undergo the three that you feel are questionable? For a period of 30 days?

If you can truthfully answer yes then you might me a masochist!!!!

Sleep deprivation means that every time you close your eyes the interrogator will wake you up, by any means, this includes physical assault, like an open handed slap across the face, to the use of
cold water thrown on you, icy cold water.

Loud music means that the decibel level is close enough to cause permanent hearing damage, and eventually the longer you're exposed to the loud music the more that the damage becomes permanent.

Oh i guess this is the CIA they don't have to follow the rules of the army.

Yeah Waterboarding seems like torture to me.

4. American government can not be trusted just ask the American Indians
Treaties are just things to be broken. Who cares that they are/were considered the "Supreme Law of the Land". If the person in office doesn't want to follow the "Supreme Law of the Land" then they just arbitrarily discard such treaty. The American Government can not be trusted..How does that make you as an American feel? The government represents you.....It is untrustworthy...
