Dems are AWOL.
Let's face it. We have no representation.

Will I get flamed? Probably.

Do I care? No, because I am too depressed.

Hey...a week ago I was hopeful and optimistic. We had a good chance to take back the House and maybe the Senate.

Our Dem "leaders" would surely nail Bush to the wall regarding his pro-torture policy. Fence-swingers and those leaning toward voting Democratic would finally see that there was a clear choice between the immoral Bush Administration and a good and just America. But I hear nothing but crickets.

Spineless doesn't do them justice. Add gutless and useless, and maybe we are getting somewhere.

4. Ah, hooey. Anyone can say anything they want. It's never out of...
...fashion to express an opinion at DU. I thought, at worst, if people disagreed they would simply not reply.

2. "We have no representation". I'm willing to live with 85-90 percent
representation. Haven't seen a Dem yet that's delivered on 100% of my wish list.

3. Dems are honest and upright.
They don't condone torture, etc.

Like I've said before, let the GOP win and face their own enemies. The democrats can't lose.

5. I'm not hoping for big change.
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 12:20 AM by Nutmegger
Tell me this: Will an Iraqi withdrawal date be set? Will we finally get universal health care for all? Will we finally stop this illegal spying on Americans? How about torture? Will the Dems stand up for torture??

Maybe when that happens, I'll feel better.

6. Sometimes I feel just like you do.
I wish the dems would stop giving in. It seems like they compromise way too much. Compromise isn't a word the repugs ever use. I stayed off for a few days because it was depressing me. So many times in the past few years my hopes were raised that this or that scandal would bring their house of cards tumbling down. I just don't see it happening. I'll believe it when I see it.

7. That's my take on it
They shouldn't need to be told that fury is the correct response, not wan smiles and shoulder-shrugs. There comes a point where polite debate is no longer appropriate, and it happened a week ago.

8. The GOP remind me of a bunch of chicken hawks huddling
under a blanket, pathetic and disgusting.

W meets their needs.

10. Torture isn't a sure thing to win for us.
If you asked a lot of Americans if they're horrified that terrorist leaders are getting tortured, the answers may not be what we want them to be. Especially since the Republicans have been so successful in hammering home the "Democrats are soft on defense" and "Democrats care more about protecting terrorists' rights than American lives" memes.
