Karl Rove Promises October Surprise - Newsmax

Ronald Kessler
Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006

WASHINGTON -- In the past week, Karl Rove has been promising Republican insiders an "October surprise" to help win the November congressional elections.

President Bush's political strategist is also saying that the final two weeks before the elections will see a blitz of advertising, and the Republican National Committee is deploying an army of volunteers to key locations to help the grass-roots effort and monitor the elections.

The RNC is offering to fly in volunteers and cover their expenses.

Rove is not saying what the October surprise will be. Asked if he would elaborate and give his thinking about the coming elections, Rove told NewsMax that his take largely parallels what RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman said in a Sept. 5 NewsMax story.

4. HAH!
No way.

It takes more than 6 weeks to drum up support for a War the scale that Iran would be.

Not going to happen.

Not even close.

Orchestrating a war with Iran would take at least 6 months. You need at least 3 bullshit UN resoultions that they would break.

8. I know, but I have a gut feeling they're going to do a hail mary...
...and a unilateral bombing campaign. It's NOT rational, and I agree with you that it should not be possible. Nonetheless, I'm fearful that the bastards are going to try. It will touch off a much wider conflict in the ME-- just the thing if you're interested in a generation war.

I've argued that it won't happen too. Now I'm not so sure. This administration is desparate and insane.

10. If they did, Dems would sweep
Too much instability, too close to the election, without a buildup..

Not to mention, most people wouldn't support this War, even though they should, 10x as much as they support the war in Iraq.

Once bitten twice shy.

13. "Once bitten, twice shy"
Now that's a phrase that sums it up quite nicely.

That's almost bumper-stickable.

We could use more of this kind of clarity. Thank you, Singular!

14. Iran? Not before the election, not this time, Iran is not Iraq...
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 01:23 AM by LaPera
China, Russia, Venezuela, Europe, Syria, Pakistan, SA, Cuba, New Zealand, African nations, all the Mid-East, North Korea, CA, the UN, etc...Suicide! If Bush attacks another sovereign nation complying with inspections, and who has never attacked anyone...Who will Bush have as allies, Israel & GB? - Canada, Mexico, S. Africa, Japan & Australia will probably even balk...It's not worth it. Most are not buying his bullshit this time.

Maybe, after the elections, even then, Iran is no pushover like the twelve year embargoed Iraq...It will be a catastrophe.

Nope, he's just pushing the buttons of FEAR for the republican & the moderate gullible...And to see if later, he can gain support and see what will play later, (They believe, maybe they know, they are a shoe in and can steal the election, easily, via Diebold).

Bush is a mad man, a lunatic no doubt, yes, Bush wants the oil & "never ending war" and WWIII - but he can't have it before the elections...Even crazy little pud, closeted Rove knows that, I'm sure!

11. One word: BLUFF
Whatevs, Karl.

He's floating that garbage in the "inner circles" but as soon as the rumors hit the mainstream, he'll denounce them as never having come from him.

Bluff. They've done it before, you know.

15. Is he going to thaw out Osama?
Go down to the "ranch" and get him out of the freezer and take him over to some rocky arid looking place where Dubya cleared away all the brush to make it look like Afghanistan. Then they sprinkle a little catsup on him for the photo shoot and tell the world they weren't even looking for him and they found him. Years later it will come out that he actually died of kidney failure back before Bush invaded Iraq, but they were just holding on to the body for political purposes.
Hint: Look for freezer burn.

Another possibility?
They send Disney Propaganda Films, Inc. to Afghanistan to do another film of Osama threatening the US and the World. The big cliff hanger here is, will they use the fat Osama or the dark Osama or the jolly Osama? Which Osama impersonator do they have lined up for the gig?

The cruelest one:
A dirty bomb will be set off in a public place. It will not be in a shopping area because Bush doesn't want to hurt the profits of big business.

24. October Surprise
The US Fifth Fleet is already on it's way to park itself in the Persian Gulf. My fear is that the October Surprise is to provoke Iran into sinking some American warships, and use it as an excuse to launch a nuclear strike on Iran. The Republicans seem pretty confident they are going to hang onto Congress. Either they know they can suppress the Democratic vote enough to squeeze out another 1% margin of victory, or they have a plan B. Or plan N. God help us.
