We've been reading and dealing with so many horrific and outrageous issues here....so time for a little break....

1 person can make a difference....we all know that. Let's not let this go unnoticed. I want the entire country to know...and what better place to start than at DU!

Who's Claude??

I just love these great human interest stories.....
I read many here...and now I have one.....

Claude has been an activist for many years....his parents raised him that way. He's got some great stories to tell. I don't know if he's even heard of DU....don't think he does message boards...and I know he'd be blown away if DUers sent off a quick email...emails from all over the country to his site for a job well done....his email link at www.lunenburgprogressives.org
On the front page of the site, you'll see him standing with Cindy Sheehan....

Here's the story......

I just met him recently.....he's from a small MA town. He took it upon himself to take out a petition to put the Iraq war on the town ballot...and he did it alone. I asked him how he went about it. He researched, got the required documents, and then spent his time hanging out in front of the library, or at town meetings until he had enough signatures. Now the voters of Lunenburg MA can vote on this immoral, illegal and horrific war to bring the troops home. I know many towns have voted for impeachment, etc.....it makes the news...and then fades away......Although the town hasn't voted yet, we know what the result will be.....

He organized a peace rally to support the troops on September 10. Some guy charged over and started ripping up the signs.....memories of Crawford ring clear....He had to call the cops....
I got there after the incident......

Shortly thereafter I did a search, and found that the local article about the peace rally ended up on Michael Moore's site...It's archived, so must have been on his homepage that day...who would have known? Claude didn't. I sent him the link, and he was beyond surprised, as no one knows who submitted it.....

One man, raging against the bush war machine and now his town will follow! I can't sit here and not let DUers know about Claude. We all do what we can....and I'd love to see him get a round of applause from around the country....

Please keep this kicking for Claude......he got some very special people to attend that rally....people that are important to us all...like the Iraq vet..and the retired priest. Also, please check in if you contacted him.....

Five recommendations! This guy is all over the place....allied with area peace groups...supporting everyone who's supporting the troops by making a stand to bring them home now!

I think it's great that DUers are emailing him....There are so many people here who are doing the same kind of things...Everyone does what they can in there own way.....I've read a lot of amazing stories of accomplishment here...I wanted to share this story as it's a part of my personal life....I don't think I've done that before....I made a new friend who has inspired me to do more...
