'LET AMERICA VOTE ACT' Picks Up Steam in Media and Congress…

Much happening at the moment. Hopefully details to come later today/tonight.

For the moment, I'll point you to Kathy Gill's coverage at About.com (http://uspolitics.about.com/b/a/207871.htm) of my proposal for the "LET AMERICA VOTE ACT" (LAVA), a call for a federal Emergency Paper Ballots mandate at all polling places this November.

The LAVA legislation seems to be generating quite a bit of buzz right now in certain sectors on Capitol Hill. Hope to have more details for you later. But with just about 5 legislative days left before the pre-election recess, please continue to make noise about it, contact your Congress members and let's save whatever we can this November!

a showdown? I thought it was interesting news that the Attorneys in Ohio's lawsuit stepped aside and were replaced by Arnebeck and Fitrakis (I think that's who replaced them?) I wonder what that's about.

28. So many people, paying so much attention to voting issues, coupled

with the huge importance of these mid-term elections, is going to make for some pretty incendiary activities wherever people lack confidence in the election outcome, and that's going to be pretty much everywhere.

16. Hastert and Frist will never agree to let this bill be voted on.

With only one week left before Congress adjourns you can be sure this bill will never make it to the floor of either chamber.

However there is another way to fight this. Request absentee paper ballots from your superintendent of elections now, and urge everybody you know to do the same. Fill them in and mail them back by Certified Mail, or hand deliver them and demand a receipt.

I note that Washington and Oregon (I believe) have done away with polling places. Instead they mail out ballots to all registered voters and so voting is entirely by mail. It seems to work quite well.
