Ronald Kessler
Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006

WASHINGTON -- In the past week, Karl Rove has been promising Republican insiders an "October surprise" to help win the November congressional elections.
President Bush's political strategist is also saying that the final two weeks before the elections will see a blitz of advertising, and the Republican National Committee is deploying an army of volunteers to key locations to help the grass-roots effort and monitor the elections.

The RNC is offering to fly in volunteers and cover their expenses.
Rove is not saying what the October surprise will be.

Guess anyone????

23. They need the "Surprise" to give compliant corporate media a reason
to which to attribute the Republicans' remarkable retention of power which they will arrange through the same collection of dirty tricks they used in 2004-- a blend of techniques to disqualify, lose and alter votes. It has been working well for them so far.

6. And if the Dems can't counter it, or better yet. . .
frame the debate themselves and keep BushCo off-balance, they won't win.

It'll be a failure of planning. And as I learned from Coach Wooden decades ago, those who fail to plan, plan to fail.

I can't imagine anything else that would convince anyone to vote for any republican for any office. Obviously I'm not taking the ignorant amongst us into consideration.

9. We need a spy.
Who would Karl have to tell the surprise to that will then tell us?
Chaffee? Lou Dobbs? Blitzer? Matalin?

I don't know Karl, but I suspect the people you can trust is dwindling!

14. Gas Prices
In Georgia gas prices have dropped almost 80 cent a gallon in
the last few weeks. By Nov. I bet it goes for below 2 dollars
a gallon. This may not be the suprise but it's part of the
plan. I hope people can see that the Repubs and the oil
companies are in bed together. Hopefully they're not ignorant
enough to think they won't go right back up after the
elections.

I mean, if you're going to go around bragging about it, hopefully it will backfire.

18. If I Had To Guess...
I'd say they probably (illegally) obtained some dirt on someone.

It can't be Osama's capture or some big, stupid terror threat removed or gas prices because if it were, they wouldn't be talking about it. It would suggest they knew in advance.
While I have no faith in the main stream media to put Rove's creepy statement and whatever happens next month together, normal people would....and it would probably backlash so hard and so fast, they wouldn't know what hit them.

I mean, could you imagine the shitstorm that would swell if people figured out they've been sitting on Bin Laden for at least a month?!

Although, in all probability, this is likely just more of Rove's bullshit and misdirection. There probably is nothing planned, really. Nothing effective, at least.
Great way to scare Democrats and keep them distracted looking for Rove's "surprise".
It would be awfully hard for these bastards to plan an "October surprise" of the magnitude they'll need and not have a RICO suit slapped on thier pimply, lilly-white asses.

21. Looks like Rove IS a genius......
He delivers a September surprise by talking about an October surprise, distracting and paralyzing the paranoid Dems as they wonder and speculate about what it is and when it is to be sprung.
