Bill Clinton Speaks About Hillary And Gore

Clinton Speaks

Bill Clinton is giving many television interviews surrounding his Clinton Global Initiative this week, but his interview on Larry King Live last night had some particularly interesting tidbits.

On whether Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) will run for president:

"I don't know yet. But, if I did know, I wouldn't tell you because I think it's so important for her to make the decision at an appropriate time... I'll say what I've said until I'm blue in the face. I think it would be an error for her to think about this now until she is reelected and has a chance to get a sense of the lay of the land and what her options are for service in the Senate, and what the presidential options are. That's what I believe. So I wouldn't even discuss it with her now."

"The second thing I want to say is if she did decide to run, I have no idea if she would win. You know, she would be the immediate favorite, but there's a million things that can happen. There's only one thing I know with absolute conviction. If she got elected, she'd be fabulous. I don't know if she's going to run, I don't know if I want her to run, I don't know if she'd win if she ran. She would be a magnificent president. I do know that."

On Al Gore's recent movie and possible next project:

"I called him and told him it was great. And, I said you know, Al, my favorite chart was the very last one. You remember, it's about his lecture? So, his last chart is, here's greenhouse gas emissions, here's where they could be, here's all the things you can do. I said, you need to make a second movie out of that last chart. And, he's doing it I think. He's going to make another movie."

It doesn't sound to me like Hillary will be running.

I think she will - I hope she doesn't, but I won't be surprised if she does -all such statements aside. They want to cloud teh waters now as much as possible, because the Republicans see Hilary as a great candidate to run against.

7. He can do both. We are not talking about one of those blockbuster movies

that take several years to make. His movie is mostly of a lecture type nature. With lots of researchers to help him, the movie could probably be shot in a month.

Sooooo - if he wants to run for Prez, he probably needs to start pretty soon.

No idea whether Gore will run or not.

6. Would Hill want to be the MINORITY leader? It might be fun to be the majo

majority leader, but it is not guaranteed that we will be a majority. Because if she would not run for Prez based on the fact she might be majority leader - the Republicans will make SURE they lose in November - so she will run for that position instead of Prez. They then would win back the Congress in '08 and have eliminated Hill from running. Very smart strategy.

I guess she will think this all over before she makes a final decision to run or not.
