Can you believe the bullshit on NBC about lower gas prices??!!!
Don't know if you saw it last night (Wed), but I just watched my TIVO recording of Nightly News and this Ann Thompson correspondent wanted us to believe that lower gas prices don't have anything to do with the upcoming election! :spray:

After Brian Williams suggested politics could playing a role:

Ann Thompson: "...NO THAT'S NOT TRUE...No major hurricanes to disrupt production in the Gulf of Mexico and plenty of supply are two reasons why gas prices are plummeting," (which is why the fear premium is evaporating.) Good one. :wtf:

She also mentioned the end of the war in Lebanon, and the repair of the busted oil pipeline in Alaska as factors as well!! .......................

.....................................BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

How friggen dumb do they think we are???

1. Same crap on CNN most of the week.
I think it was yesterday... Kyra Phillips or one of them was speaking to their Wall Street correspondent about gas prices.

"Could something like November politics be at play, here?" she asked.

"Ohhh, no, Kyra. Democrats might be trying to make some hay out of that discussion, but unfortunately for them, it's just not the case."

And that was the end of the discussion. No explanation of why that "was just not the case." She said it, I guess America listened, and all was good in the world.

:eyes:

2. That would explain all those other times
there were no major hurricanes and gas prices plummeted. :eyes:

They don't think we're stupid, they hope we are. Their ratings depend on it.

5. I'm with you.....I would have thought "fear premium" had more to do with
the this hysterical war on TERRA than gasoline prices!!!

6. My understanding is the fear premium is the amount
the oil importers will jack the price by to ensure 'profitablity' in the face of possible supply disruptions.
As the supply drops to zero, the price reaches a limit that is, while not infinite, at least higher than the market will bear.

The rationale is that if the oil supply is curtailed, then the oil importer/refineries will not be able to produce a product.
Of course it is a crock of shit because this idea completely ignores the existence of the strategic oil reserve.

8. A DU poster made a bet a few weeks ago about gasoline prices.
i can't find the post but the poster bet that gasoline prices would go down to $1.50 just before the elections and speed back up by mid-December.

12. I wouldn't be surprised if some "event" in the mideast triggers the rise
Maybe in late November something will happen with Iran, supply disrupted, Uh-oh! Up go prices, but it has nothing to do with the election!
