Russia to sell Uzbekistan arms after it joins security grouping
http://news.uzreport.com/mir.cgi?lan=e&id=19037

Russia will sell Uzbekistan arms and military hardware at domestic prices after it completes legal formalities to join a post-Soviet security grouping, the defense minister said Wednesday. snip

"As soon as Uzbekistan has completed the legal procedure for joining the Collective Security Treaty Organization, our laws on supplies of Russian arms and military equipment at domestic prices will automatically extend to it," said Sergei Ivanov, who is also a deputy prime minister.

He said bilateral cooperation with Uzbekistan was advancing not only in combat training but also in the military-technical sphere, adding Uzbek servicemen had been studying at Russian colleges free of charge since last year, RIA Novosti reported.

The CSTO, set up in October 2002, comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

2. A little side note on the 'Stans .................

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan account for
20% of the world's uranium supply at 3%
and 17% respectively.

Uzbekistan's reserves are the same as
Russia's at 3%.

That's why the US tried to set up bases
in those countries and Russia and China
are determined to prevent it.
