Bush tells abortion foes, 'We will prevail' >
AN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- President Bush told abortion opponents Monday that they are pursuing "a noble cause" and making a real difference in the campaign to recruit more Americans to stand on their side.

"We're working to persuade more of our fellow Americans of the rightness of our cause," the president told abortion foes gathered at the foot of Capitol Hill on a chilly, rainy day. He spoke by telephone from Manhattan, Kansas, where he was to give a speech.

"This is a cause that appeals to the conscience of our citizens and is rooted in America's deepest principle," the president said. "And history tells us that with such a cause we will prevail."

14. I never really recognized it.
I was born too late. I missed the "good ole days," which probably weren't really that good. By the time I was old enough to know what the hell the president actually does (in this case, NOTHING :grr:), * was in office.

:grr:

16. Depends what you mean by "good ole days"
I remember having a President the whole world admired, even his enemies.

I remember when the press had spunk and reporters asked real questions.

I remember when there was separation of Church and State.

Those things really happened. ;)

15.  Bush tells abortion foes, 'We will prevail' - Cheney & Condi next parrots
"We're working to persuade more of our fellow Americans of the rightness of our cause," the president told abortion foes gathered at the foot of Capitol Hill on a chilly, rainy day.

Bush just thought he would spread his thoughts on what a woman should do with HER body, besides it maqy take heat away from wiretap investigation & current Washington scandals.

17. Keeping the base in tow. He really could care less but it is a means
to an end. Saving unwanted fetuses over living, loved children sent off to die in foreign lands is a helluva trade off.

of a republican leaning SCOTUS and a republican right wing religious zealot in the WH, a right wing controlled house and a right wing`controlled senate and a right leaning media.. THEY ARE NEVER GONNA DO IT..

wake up little Fundy.. they NEED the ISSUE to yank your chains every two years.. just like they need the issues of gays, god and guns..

they are practical, educated, RICH folks who know they can never really eliminate things that the REAL majority wants. they just TELL you every two years how hard they are trying..and where to send that money :)

25. Does this man have any real convictions?
I thought this just another one of Rove's ploys for getting more votes. It's not just the unwanted born children who will suffer but women will again be subjected to butchers. Better plan--provide free convenient birth control to all! The Guardian review of Kitty Kelly's book says:

"On occasion, she relies on sources that are less than reliable - inserting the story Hustler publisher Larry Flynt tried to put in media play about a girlfriend's abortion that W allegedly paid for before it was legal. Kelley says she decided to put the story in her book after interviewing the two investigators Flynt had hired to track down the story."

The girl was about 14, and all of this would be unbelievable if the Shrub had lived a life similar to a sober, respectful Al Gore, but if it were true, at least she had an opportunity to live afterwords.
