2. Holy crap
That is beyond psycho. I cannot for the life of me understand why people would want to live this way.

Look for me - the 'psycho' one screaming at lamp posts to go fuck themselves.

Ripping it out of the ground. And smashing it to bits.
Finishing it off with a hearty piss.

3. Take a cab ride around the downtown areas of any major US city
Watch the walls of the buildings.

Once you are tuned in, you will absolutely not believe how many cameras there are.

16. Was it Arlington Road, or Enemy of The State
maybe it's that Jim Carey movie where everything is on tv....

Fiction is more believeable than truth. Or at least less destructive.

My middle fingers will be getting alot of exercise.
Oh and it's NOT the people that want to live this way..It's the LEADERS who want US to be FORCED to live like that..It's for THEIR security, not OURS you know. Leaders are mostly sociopaths, THIEVES, Thugs, moral Degenerates in normal suits wearing masks of sanity,The more people wake up to this, the more they'll reveal the truth of what they really are. Control freak depraved psychopath bullies.

The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre.
-- Frank Zappa

My sig line says it all.

12. Reads like the Onion. I can see people having a lot of fun with this
at the Mayor's expense, of course. Performance artists, this is your opportunity!
Any town that puts up with this sort of thing has to be pretty creepy, a la Stepford.

"I don't think this would work in Atlanta. Nobody cares. They would steal the cameras."

20. As a Detroiter, I unfortunately understood that comment all too well...
Edited on Wed Sep-20-06 11:23 PM by susanna
Just recently here in Detroit, thieves stripped Kronk's Gym of all its copper pipe. Obviously, a gym without working plumbing is a health hazard. There is nothing sacred in Detroit, evidently, and I got that same vibe from the comment about Atlanta on the Big Brother article.

To feel shame, people have to believe they are doing something wrong. There are places in this country where maybe, just maybe, you can't count on that.

Not to say that the Big Brother yahoos in the UK are right... ;-)

22. You beat me to it!
"It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could igve you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself—anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide. In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face… was itself a punishable offense. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime…" —pg 54
