I think we all agree Katie Couric can't anchor the CBS Evening News.
A fluffy morning "news" person with the intellectual heft of potato skins isn't cut out for the anchor's desk of a major network. So, that being the case, who would you select as being the best choice for that kind of responsibility?

One exception: you can't choose Keith Olbermann. I say this because I know there are bound to be 8 billion responses in favor of him, and I'd like to get a slightly more diverse sampling of opinion.

The first person that comes to my mind is Christiane Amanpour. She's got the knowledge, the talent, and the gravitas to do a good job. She's been out in the field, so she can convey a more accurate picture of events. Plus, she's got a sense of being unflappable, that even when a crisis is unfolding around her she'd stay cool.

1. Oh come on - they all just "rip and read".
Katie no different than any others in recent history - with the possible exception of Rather.

These network (and most cable) positions are for second tier showbiz wannabees.

2. Keith writes his own stuff, with some assistance.
There. I will now bow out and leave the field, knowing you want votes for someone besides Keith, and I can't think of anyone!

3. I want a professional newsMAN that doesn't even have the need to be on
camera. I want someone who doesn't feel the need to have botox, someone who doesn't need to show leg, someone who will sit in the chair and not on the news desk, someone who isn't stuck on their own ego, and someone that will work for a reasonable wage and someone who is willing to do the best job possible without inserting themselves into the news.

Bring back a man and forget about it.

4. Christiane Amanpour AND Keith Olbermann.
Huntley and Brinkley for the new century.
I love them both.
