8. When you can't make a rational argument against your accusers
The response is "you're a terrorist." So, they're basically saying that the Constitution is a terrorist document.

And if you take them up on it, you're immediately accused of siding with terrorists for questioning the Bush administration.

12. Bush's status as commander in chief means he can wiretap citizens
For these kind of arguers, that means they clearly think that Bush can use the military against U.S. citizens.

14. Back with Tweety dissing Michael Moore
Does Tweety think that Lila Lipscomb is an actor, or that her son didn't die in Iraq?

Excellent questions. Tell the truth, and you're compared to a terrorist. Lie your ass off, and the media prostrate themselves.

15. Jack Abramoff's dad attacked George Clooney
Abramoff's daughter was watching the Golden Globes and cried when Clooney made his little joke. It's hilarious what finally embarrasses this kid: Not that her dad is a criminal, but because Clooney joked about his name.

New Republican strategy: Send the womenfolk out to cry.

Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 03:29 PM by gratuitous
Your son's name won't be cleared: He pleaded guilty! He's going to prison, sir.

And for all the Republicans torked off about little Missy Abramoff crying, Randi has one word for you: Chelsea.

Edited to add: Second break.

20. I'll apologize to conservatives for hurting little girl A's feelings
As soon as they apologize for their relentless campaigns against Chelsea and Hillary. Now Republicans are hiding behind 12-year-old girls. Well, Bush has made 12-year-old girls cry . . . in Baghdad.

22. Okay, it IS wrong to make fun of Jack's name
Especially when there are so many better things to ridicule him about. "He made a joke of my son's name!" Yeah, and Abramoff made a disgrace of his name all by himself.

23. Conservatives blame everybody, except . . .
The person who broke the law.

Now she's giving Bush hell about speaking out of both sides of his mouth about whether we're at war or not, and what his powers are regardless of whether we're at war or not.

25. Now playing McCain's statement
Bush doesn't have the authority to conduct warrantless wiretaps. McCain then goes on to say that the Republican-controlled Congress would give Bush that authority if he asked. Uh huh, right.

Bush can't even get his slam dunk UN Ambassador or Supreme Court nominees through the Senate, and he's going to get unconstitutional authority to spy on the citizenry? 'Fraid not!

26. Now playing Tweety's lame excuse
Of course, Tweety turned right to Joe Scarborough to get independent affirmation of his odious comments comparing bin Laden to Ted Kennedy.

Yes indeed, both Kennedy and bin Laden have pointed out that George W. Bush's administration and military have engaged in bombing and killing civilians and tortured people in Abu Ghraib. That doesn't require collusion between Kennedy and bin Laden; all it takes is the ability to tell the truth.

But the punditry outrage is reserved not for the people doing the torturing and the domestic spying, but they're outraged at the people who point it out. And because Osama bin Laden knows about these crimes, you're supposed to forget that you know about them.

Third break, and I am outta here.
